If one cannot be disciplined enough to follow team rules then how could one be expected to play basketball within team guidelines. Furthermore how do we know Dan has not tried extra punishment for violations in practice? It’s also a microcosm of life in general. Follow the rules or you lose your job or whatever. If any of them were to go to the NBA do you think an NBA team would allow that. It’s all about personal responsibility. The only ones responsible are the players who don’t follow the rules.
I just don’t understand how it can be so difficult to follow the rules. Honestly, I doubt they’re that complicated.

Three words, Dan Muller's ego.

This is the dumbest thing I've read on RBF.net in a long time. The reality is that in order to win in the valley, and consistently, you need to have good players, playing together and playing smart. You need discipline. You don't win by bending your own rules.

Muller-Yarborough's relationship is not unlike Pitino's-Russ Smith back in 2011-12. Smith was always in Pitino's doghouse, got pulled often, didn't start a few games....etc. That said, by the end of the year, he started to get it and led the Cardinals to a National Title.

“Friday, they didn’t. Muller said Saturday some players were late to the team bus, a transgression he said “continues to show our immaturity.”

We keep picking on MY, but the article says several players were late.
Exactly why I made sure I said him and other players in my response. But the focus is still on MY.

I look at this as a combination of an incomplete team, a rebuilding year, and playing at Indiana State, a venue in which the Birds have underachieved multiple times in the past. In other words, a perfect storm of "suck." Time to put it behind them, hold themselves accountable, grind out enough wins to avoid Thursday night, and hopefully hit their stride in time for St. Louis.

Paris Lee, : I have read now I think twice. the argument regarding to not judge the freshman so quickly, stating ie P Lee freshman year was bad , really bad" I don't need the tapes, as I watched every game, he had his moment but he was anything but bad. I do remember too many turnovers , but just a fact check of his freshman year, he played the 3rd most minutes, shot .344 % from field, free throws shot 71%, , rebounds at a skinny 5 ft 10 he was 7th on the team ave two a game, was 2nd in assists , was second in steals, and ave 7 points a game, the negative was 2nd on team in turnovers, ( for someone that had the ball a lot). Paris Lee bad his freshman year, That dog don't hunt.

For the record, I just agreed almost 100% with what Chi-bird posted!! Whoever he or she is!!!
Hahaha I honestly didn't realize how close they were til I made it. Perhaps I'll go back to pre new board name. Once I figure out how to do it.

I would rather every player on the team have to drive themselves to the game bc they missed the bus and win said game than watch whatever that was yesterday. There is a reason coaches that aren't such rules nuts are the most successful in the NCAA.

If they're late to the bus, what makes you think driving themselves would get them there on time?

....at least the remainder of the team would be there on time.

It is amazing.

Muller knew what was needed 2 years ago. And this is the output.

There is not one guard on ISU’s team who can:

1) stay in front of his man
2) create his own shot

How does this happen?
A lot of underachieving going on. Looked good on video and paper. I’m frankly surprised by Clarance and Tinsley. I’m guessing Dan is too. Screw patience. Fayne, Milik, and Key will be gone while we wait for this development process to play out. Freshmen and newcomers need to contribute on NCAA teams.

Elijah Clarance had no pre-season practices or physical training. He has played a total of 83 minutes of D1 basketball. If I had to choose between Elijah Clarance after seeing him play only 83 minutes, and what on I saw from Nic Moore through November of his freshman year, I would take Elijah Clarance.

As for William Tinsley, I think next season he is going to be a valuable player coming off the bench. Sometimes it takes JUCO’s until February, or even into their senior year before their game starts clicking. I have confidence in him. I like his hustle, and I think his offense is going to come around.

Taylor Bruninga may not become an All-Valley player, but he is going to be good enough to help this team into The NCAA Tournament before he leaves.

Isaac Gassman is a walk-on, and I think he is very good attribute to this team only being a walk-on.

I am hoping that EC, WT, & TB are all back on scholarship’s as Redbirds for the remainder of their college career. And I hope Isaac Gassman remains here as a walk-on for the rest of his college career.
JMO, but I liked what I saw in Nic Moore over what I’m seeing from Clarance at this point in their freshmen years. If Clarance ever gets to the level of Nic’s freshmen year, I’ll be happy with that.

I can't count. Lernin was never my strong suit. And even if I could i wouldn't bother cuz I'm not keeping score. But everyone knows that everyone always blames everyone here when they don't like what they read here.

It isn't the difference of opinion that bugs me, it's that some people don't seem to recognize that their opinion isn't anything more than an opinion, no more or less "correct" than anyone else's. There's a few people on here, some of whom don't have "Chi" in their screen name, who seem to think whatever they say is "right", and anyone else's opinion is "wrong", or stupid, or not thought out, etc.

Well your dumb*ss post already surpassed these dumb posts. What a moron you are for comparing this ISU team to a past national championship team. I clearly said I am all for discipline. The point I was making is that we have played many games this season where the discipline tactic of suddenly sitting Milik for extended period of time is impacting that individual game and possible the outcome. However despite the in game discipline tactics by Muller... MY has not changed his behavior and we are not too far off from post season play. That form of discipline for Milik is clearly not working. ISU is at risk of going into any game including post season games with this crap still happening. Muller needs to try something else (and likely more severe) as MY clearly is not bothered by missing bits and pieces of playing time. I want to see ISU focused going into post season and not have this issue pop up again because if it does pop up post season we are likely to lose that game.
If you read this and concluded that I was comparing our current team to the National Championship Louisville team, then well, what can I say.

You can take your words back all you want, but you are suggesting that Muller is making disciplinary and teaching decisions based on his ego and not based on what is best for the team and for the player.

I know some on here only seemed to appreciate the late season Nic Moore, when he starting scoring in bunches. Personally, I liked his first 83 minutes from a leadership & floor general perspective. I saw a player who was confident and in control of the offense. Also immediately saw his ability to pass players open, especially Jackie. And gutsy passes most wouldn't attempt, let alone complete. Those traits are far more important in a point guard than the ability to score. So I was happy. And the late season scoring was certainly a nice bonus. He was certainly not a late season phenomenon in my view.

You knew that Nic was going to be that good of a player after 83 minutes. Tell me what you saw in those first 83 minutes that was better than what you have seen in Elijah? Better ball handler? Better defender? Better passer? Better shooter?
