What I don’t get is if ISU basketball right now is so miserable and so painful and so “there is no hope” why put yourself through that?

Love the program and game, cherish the school and am not a fair-weather fan.

Look very much forward to every game, even in down years.

My three favorite teams in order are the ‘Birds, White Sox and Bears. Sticking with them despite being in sports fan hell right now.

As a Cubs' fan it pains me to say, but at least your Sox show promise.

At one point, many of us thought that having everyone back next year was a good thing. Now, I think it is a problem. We need 3-4 guys to leave in players 4-12, but I am not sure who would take them. Muller will have to run them off to get them to leave.

Personally, I still have hope for Clarence. He played in a very good private school league in Baltimore and was voted 1st team. Everyone in that group went D1. There has to be more there than the glimpses we have seen.

We used to complain that we had athletes who could not shoot. I would take that in a minute now. We are very far behind most other Valley teams in athleticism. Bradley is worse, but maybe not anyone else.

Regarding today's game.....
I had to leave the house at halftime and thought it could not get worse. I planned to check the score and if it got interesting I would watch a replay of the 2nd half. Well, I am not going to do that. I don't want to see what I have read in these posts.

Right now, I am really bummed about our Birds, but I will keep watching every game like I have every chance I get for the past 42 years. Surprise us and make us proud! GO BIRDS!

It’s called being a fan. If misery drove me away, I wouldn’t have been there when the Cubs broke through.

I grew up Redbird, practically in Horton’s backyard. Went to ISU. Actually, one of the few local ISU alums I know that isn’t rooting for U of I. They seem miserable too, but deserve it IMO. It’s just in my blood, and that’s not going change apparently. As much as they seemingly try to drive me away, I think they are stuck with me.

Anyone notice that Indy blue had a nearly 40 point lead and kept their starters in til about the three minute mark. I hope that comes back to haunt them in STL

Yes. They'll remember. Especially our Coach.

Guys and gals, we're still gonna win some big games and we're gonna lose some. This year. We're not awful, although today was. We're just not a good team right now.

Arizona State in 10th place in PAC 12, but #16 in the nation. That’s living right.

I keep watching because I have done it for over 30 years. Season tickets, donations, road trips, almost every MVC tournament since 1990.

I've seen and enjoyed the good moments. I've also, stuck with the them during the lousy years.

I'm going to keep watching no matter what. However, I'm not going to sit here and drink Kool-Aid with some people.

This current team is a train wreck. Poor coaching, bad players, and not winning in the weakest MVC in a long time. I could sit here and say I think Clarence will be the next Osiris, but I've seen enough to know that isn't probably going to happen. I also, know Hein is probably the worst guard to start for us since....the early 90's, if ever.

I don't think any of the criticism of this team has been unfair. Just because it isn't positive doesn't mean it isn't true.

Thank you. Couldn't have said it better.

Good choice not watching a replay of 2nd half. The 3 straight turnovers for alleyoop layup/dunks was especially painful. Leudke commented that he couldn’t even report on the scoring as fast as INSU was putting them in.

The notion that we should run-off student athletes for not being good enough at the moment is troublesome. Why would anyone come here if that is considered acceptable? Additionally, how to you ask for loyalty out of your best players if you can't show it yourself? I would hope that DM would not be so short-sighted.

Also a local ISU alum, but I can't stand U of I for the most part. Granted its largely because it was all my friends who went there wanted to talk about it.

I can’t believe that we are ready to decide that the freshman are no good. Like they have all had less than 20 D1 game. Clarence hasn’t even had 10. And people think that they are a waste for 3 more years?? I can’t wrap my head around that.

Again, go find tape of Paris Lee his freshman year. Bad. Real bad. The step up from high school and AAU to D1, even at the “lowly” MVC level is crazy! Give them a chance. Give the coaches a chance to develop them.
nope. We're doomed and we suck. [emoji38]

Just some comments about various comments in 15 pages. 1. Dan is already on record saying he doesn’t think he will lose star players like past years. 2. Do we know for a fact that dan told Hawkins he couldn’t come back or is that conjecture? 3. We have 3 players coming into the program next year that will make a difference. A Jr college guard who will definitely start. Chastain will be a factor I believe and a recruit who is a man among boys. At a minimum we should be better on the boards. 4. Don’t recruit central Illinois? There is a player at Bloomington high who everyone agrees is a P5 caliber player and he’s coming here in two years. Yes we got our ass kicked today but we still have won 10 games including 2 against P5 teams. I never expected this year to be a great year after losing 4 starters. Add in all the injuries and it’s been difficult. But this program is not in the crapper in my opinion

Cuz some of us are Cubs fans. And we know that going through the misery of being bad or being good but just not QUITE good enough, will make the times when we are good enough even sweeter. I’m just hoping it doesn’t take 108 years.

I think a lot of the cristisim is unfair. Mainly how Clarence is a waste of a scholarship. Or, to be honest, how all the talent evaluators say any of our freshman are waste of scholarships.

Watching McIntosh play for Oregon right now. A fair cristisim is Dan not keeping players. We lost 4 starters and like 95% of our offense. I mean very few teams not named Duke can survive turnover like that.
