I read that Loyola made huge donation increases (660 percent) in 2018 after their final four run. Just think what their donation increase will be after crushing Illinois.$120 million for a first round win? The math seems a little questionable. Anyone dive into these numbers?

Must be nice ... What does a last place finish in the MVC get you?I read that Loyola made huge donation increases (660 percent) in 2018 after their final four run. Just think what their donation increase will be after crushing Illinois.

Agree- that sounds fishy. Although, with religion involved who knows.I’m sure most schools get a bump after a big win or a deep run but $120 mil for a first round win? Color me skeptical.
Huh? Maybe the Pope upped his donations? Extra collection plate being passed at mass?Although, with religion involved who knows.

Sorry criss crossed my religions... The article was about Abilene Christian not LUC.Huh? Maybe the Pope upped his donations? Extra collection plate being passed at mass?
It’s simple- Notre Dame is assisted by a huge catholic following! Ok not saying it’s a bad thing! Just saying it helps! If you don’t agree- fine.Huh? Maybe the Pope upped his donations? Extra collection plate being passed at mass?
They should have used some of that income that year to find a decent center that could hang with the big boysI read that Loyola made huge donation increases (660 percent) in 2018 after their final four run. Just think what their donation increase will be after crushing Illinois.

I don’t know what your point is. I don’t think anyone every said the big boys are better than the well build mid majors. If you are still butt hurt about many of us saying ISU will never get to Loyola status- keep crying. I think you just like to read your own post! They should have used some of that income that year to find a decent center that could hang with the big boys.
In theory why couldn’t ISU get there? Better facilities, solid location. ISU overall is a better spot than Loyola was prior to their run. I have no illusions of it actually happening, but if they can build from very little then why not us?I don’t know what your point is. My son took a college visit to Butler. Almost every building on campus (except Hinkle) looked brand new, compliments of their 2 straight title games. And they were quick to tell you what those runs meant to applications for enrollment and money pouring in from all angles. That really is true. I remember ISU people telling me how when our Football team made they FCS Final that it really helped enrollment. I can only imagine what a Loyola type run would do here. And when you think about it there's no reason why we can't be like them at some point. Just gotta want to do it.
Luck. They can get the coaching and recruits. Porter had luck in timing. He got a freshman who was a world beater right out the gate which was the missing piece from a group who was pretty much all seasoned seniors. That got even better recruits and krutwig and another guy are now the seasoned seniors and the better recruits have them going again. Everything in the universe aligned perfectly because Porter may have not been there if it weren't for Loyola jumping conferences two seasons into Porter's tenure. That reset his building clock and gave him 3 extra years. He might not have been there in year 5 based upon his first 4 season records if it weren't for the conference jump. Good for Porter for taking advantage and playing it perfect after things have gotten good but to get there he had quite a bit of luck even though he has a solid program fundamentally and schematically. In theory why couldn’t ISU get there? I’m with you. Majerus had some solid X & O’s to absorb, but also cut corners, building Ball State thru academic fraud. Is Porter cutting corners, if Majerus is to be credited? Of course, coaches learn as time goes on, except for Muller. Look at the path of failure Musselman from Arkansas has taken in coaching. Finally, in his 50s, he has success at Nevada and Arkansas. He learned along the way, but also finally had the horses. And Porter’s success has been built on a unicorn ... a very great passing big. Krut may look like a plumber, but he’s near the top of KenPoms list of best players in the country. He will be nearly impossible to replace.Porter is such and interesting story. It wasn't until his 14th year of coaching that his team finished in the top half of the conference standings. That year they ended up going to the final four. I've heard multiple media outlets refer to him as the best coach in college basketball now. It's amazing and he deserves all of the accolades he gets.
I know people think he coached for Majerus and that is what made him the coach he is today. After coaching with Majerus, Moser finished 10th, 7th, 10th, 6th, 8th, 5th with Loyola. I give him credit for learning from previous mistakes and making himself a better coach. Although, I'm sure it helped, I'm not buying the Majerus theory. IMHO.
I think this is sarcasm related to an earlier post where someone indicated Krutwig couldn’t hang with P5 big men. Clearly that was a bad take.I don’t know what your point is.
