Bradley was supposed to have all this coming to them when they went to the S16. And nothing happened. No better recruits, no huge doners and one appearance since when they went from last to first in half a season.

I don’t know what your point is. I don’t think anyone every said the big boys are better than the well build mid majors. If you are still butt hurt about many of us saying ISU will never get to Loyola status- keep crying. I think you just like to read your own post!

The funny part of it is Krutwig isn’t that good. He would get eaten alive if he were in the Big 12. He is some what big, but slow.

The president was more or less saying it would have cost them an estimated 120 million dollars in advertising to reach the crowd that they reached with their game one win in the tourney.
I read it not only the free advertising, because they will be brought up through the rest of the Tourney and in future graphics for the next couple of years. But donations will increase (and lower costs to get those higher donations). Increase in student applications, which could mean increased enrollment (so dollars from tuition paying students). The companies already aligned with the university for advertising purposes extending those contracts with an increase to the dollars (think of all the Country Companies commercials during our games on ESPN+). The kids they are recruiting see them on TV, so you don't have to work as hard (so some savings there in letting these HS kids know who you are). Then to top off, the money they receive from the NCAA, their conference may divide up the dollars differently, so maybe they get slightly more than everyone else because they went and then they got a win, which increases dollars. Did they get 120 Million dollar check, nope. But it's like winning a lotto that pays you some each year for the next few years. Do I think it's 120 Mil, probably not. But I'm sure he has better access to his schools financials and can tie back costs and savings and everything to probably back up his claim (even using voodoo math). And it looks good to have a huge number in the press, which continues the free press.

Did they subtract the amount they spent to advertise during the game . . . 'cuz they did advertise.

Does true tv run local ads? Also a lot of people probably steamed the game. Why would that have been a factor? Are you saying they advertised on local channels to get people tune into the game on a cable network? Just curious.

I doubt it. Were I to throw my two cents in, my guess is the president is overvaluing the impact of winning an NCAA, but is probably banking on a larger draw of publicity in the state of Texas since they beat arguably the biggest college face of the state of Texas.

A lot of colleges run ads for the college during the NCAA tourney. I saw a host of ads across the various channels, though I don't remember many of them. I know I saw at least one GCU commercial and I feel like I saw an Abilene Christian commercial but I can't remember.

So what I'm hearing here is that winning is a good thing. And winning on the basketball court can actually have a positive effect on the entire campus, athletically and academically. Hmmm...and sometimes you have to spend $$$ to make $$$?

If we name anything on campus after larry lyons, I swear to God...

Lots of intangibles, but I agree.

I’d be ok with something unfinished in the Redbird Arena basement or the “horseshoe” of plastic “luxury box seating” in the end zone of Hancock.

I feel like those would be fitting tributes to his god awful time as AD.

No, I'm saying they advertised. That's all I'm saying. I don't know about local ads, as I'm not anywhere near Texas.

True, but my concern is that we think we'll be rolling in the dough, and that just isn't the way it works. The calculus for ACU seems to be more that they didn't have to spend money for publicity, money they didn't necessarily have to spend, not they were suddenly rolling in cash.

Heck, I'm just upset that they not only got into the tourney, but won a game against a feared, almighty big ten behemoth. Winning does cure a lot of ailments. And I do understand that they simply weren't handed a really big cardboard check for $120,000,000, Though, that would be pretty damn cool.

We have to start winning. This Thursday crap is getting really old.

Agreed!
I feel like this program has one more chance before it’s completely irrelevant
If next year is the same crap, then what?

We've been irrelevant. Besides one year. I mean who looks at this as a quality program? It's been 22 years since we were relevant. This isnt a new thing.

Missed fts and Norris not getting any looks. E Thomas was a tough cover. Down the stretch Beavers hit their fts.

Missed shots, lots of them wide open. OSU played great D, but it seemed LU played really tight on offense. Take away Krutwig’s line and LU only shot 27%. Good season for the Ramblers. Be interesting to see what happens with their seniors.
