Benson played for Papa Mullins in AAU.

With Moser at Loyola, and the Mullins AAU pipeline to Carbondale, going to be very difficult for Muller to have any recruiting success in state.

I don't buy it. There are so many basketball players in this state for all of the programs to be strong. The challenge is can Muller and staff develop Illinois relationships/credibility and establish their own state of Illinois pipeline.

Good question. I hope the answer is yes.

IMO - if we can sell ISU over SIU then we're F'd
We have a much better facility - proximity to everywhere in the state pretty much.
Academically we're better and financially we're more sound

To be fair, who needs basketball players and connections in Chicago when you dominate recruiting hotbeds like Ottawa, LeRoy, Colfax, Glasford, and Shelbyville. Small Illinois towns are where all the top players are located. By the end of Muller's contract in 2024 he is going to find the next Larry Bird in Deer Creek. Just give it time.

...or perhaps a Meyers Leonard from Robinson who is now sitting on a 41 million dollar contract in the NBA despite being from a small town. Players come from everywhere man. It's about finding the right fits for your style of play.

Getting worked up over guys that have been or are slated to be walk-ons isn't really worth shouting from the mountaintops about.

As for Chicago, take a look at each of the Final Four rosters this past season and let me know how many Chicago players were representing that fine basketball city on college basketball's biggest stage.

And a couple years ago we were bitching that Dan passed up on a small town Washington IL player who went to Valpo and then was drafted to the NBA.

How's this for a next assistant? Let Osiris finish out his season in Turkey and bring him onboard

The kid has a sterling rep in the City and I think would be a great kid who can relate to young players like Reeves

I like this. He's 30. Gotta think playing in Turkey is getting old.

Have you been to Turkey?! Great food, beautiful women, interesting and super nice people overall...plus the Lira goes a long way there. I’m mean there is no Portilli’s (or whatever), but he can probably push through the days.
