I'm not concerned about not having signed any recruits yet. There are still a lot of pieces out there to fall into place across the NCAA landscape, such as where transfers end up and who stays or pulls out of the draft, as that can have a cascade effect as well.

I am a little concerned that we haven't hired an assistant yet, as that can impact recruiting as well.

I'm more concerned that Valpo, SIU, and Loyola are on all the lists of impact transfers/recruits and I don't see ISU involved.

Spring signing period is always slower and doesn't have the fanfare of the first day.

We didn't know about MY transferring until May for instance.

There's quite a buzz around many of the Valley teams' offseason pickups and recruits, but the only news I've heard from our program is about an online auction that benefits womens' athletics. Cool stuff, but I want to hear about what our coaching staff is doing to stock the shelves so we don't have to witness another season like this one.

If we were to pick up a grad transfer, wouldn't we have already done it? Any chance at salvaging a recruiting class?

Somebody talk me off the Redbird ledge...

You do realize it is against NCAA rules for a University account/affiliate to make specific recruiting updates unless there is pen on paper for the kid signing....

This is why ISU needs an assistant coach like Tim Anderson that has strong ties to Chicago. ISU seems to be lacking ties to the Chicagoland recruiting world, IMO.

FWIW - i recently mentioned Tim Anderson's name to a good friend, and DePaul alum. he first had to ask if i was talking about the DePaul coach or the White Sox short stop. but said it would be a BIG loss if Anderson was to leave DePaul.

So . . . didn't we have Mullins and his ties to Chicago? Two years and I can't count all those recruits from Chicago who had ISU on their top 5 lists . . .

Maybe, if Chicago is our target, we should lure a relatively young, well-liked/respected HS coach from Chicagoland. I know I said it 'tongue-in-cheek' before, but do we have any former managers (or players) coaching in Chicagoland?

As for our current assistants, I am still not solidly on board with either Reese or Duhon. Neither is overtly talking ISU up anywhere that I can see. ReesTwitter and family only on Facebook. Maybe they’re great sales guys when on the recruiting trail, but I’m having trouble believing it.

Anyone have any rumors on our new assistant?

ISU Mullins was second fiddle to Loyola Mullins and they both had same Chicago ties. Guess who was getting the recruits. Beyond that the overall Mullins Chicago ties seem to be with programs (Illinois wolves, NLP, Bennet, Fenwick, suburban schools...etc) and players that were not the profile of Muller’s type of players, IMO. A Tim Anderson type coach would have ties to those type of “Muller profile”programs (Meanstreets, Mac Irvin, Young & Reckless, Simeon, Bogan, Curie, Farragut, Chicago Public league... Etc) and players and a Tim Anderson type coach would be able to help ISU better navigate that talented basketball environment that is also fraught with other types of significant recruiting challenges (behavioral, academic, family, economic ..etc).
In the ideal world every university would want to be fully staffed now vs any other time given the major ncaa live period compounded by the significant transfer action. Hopefully Muller fills that spot much sooner than later.

As it stands right now next year might make last year look incredible.
