Any chance one person from current staff will stay? Tony? Johnson?
Seems unlikely on Johnson. His walk-on, Elijah, was removed from the roster. Still on the track roster FWIW.

Last I saw is Pedon had a convo with them and still committed as of now. We’ll see if they wind up signing.

Do we want them?
They have some talent and Johnson was really high on them.

I think overall at this point, fans would've assumed there be more than four Redbirds in the portal. I do believe more are to come but it could say something positive about Pedon if a lot of the guys are at the very least, hearing him out and having a lot of conversations. I, like many of you, am excited to see the type of guys RP brings in. However, I do believe last year's roster had talent that wasn't put in a position for success. Obviously, the roster has gaps that need to be filled we just don't know what those completely are yet. Based on the current Birds in the Portal, a couple of guards who can score at a high level as well as post depth.

If my calculations are correct... Pedon currently has 2 scholarships to play with, assuming the twins are still coming.

One kind of unrelated note that I've seen in the interviews with Dakich and Pedon over the past few weeks, both of them mentioned how crazy and unheard of it is for a D1 basketball roster to carry 18 guys. Obviously, Muller did it because he didn't want to get burned by injuries like he did a few years back, but I think it's interesting to hear an "outsiders perspective." The volume of players involved may impact how long decisions are made. When Pedon got here, he said he met with every player for 30-45 min, and that those conversations have continued. If he did 45 with each guy, that's 13.5 hours of meetings. Of course, broken up over a the business week doesn't seem too bad but if he's putting that level of effort with current players, I can only imagine it to be even more significant with his "own" players and on the recruiting trail.

Except for Elijah, aren't all the walkons from IL? Kind of a wash since they are paying tuition which more than makes up for team meals and study hall. Builds a relationship with IL HS coaches and maybe parents that donate to the program.

When constantly getting poached with the Portal, wouldn't you "stock the shelves?"

Wisconsin has carried 17 or so for the last several years, including always some walk-on "practice" players.

Martinelli's father is an Ohio State alum. That might work in our favor w Pedon and Dakich. On his twitter post about the offer I noticed former Ohio State player Joey Lane quote replied to it saying Nick would look good in red.

My guess is Rob Judson. Can Benson be wrong twice? I wanted Paris Parham but he probably makes too much at DePaul.
