Tony Wills' position has been posted. Spose Tony could still be hired for the slot, he has the Indy background and worked at SIU too. But you do get the feeling Pedon wants to do his own thing and have his own crew.
Tony loved his time at SIU.
To be fair a majority of assistant coaching gigs are 1 year contracts or 2 at max. Tony may not be gone, he could potentially be the DOBO for the upcoming year.
Random fact, Tony's twin brother Dre is an assistant coach at D2 Post University. It'd be interesting to see them on the same staff someday.

It will be interesting to see where Pedon goes next. He's got an almost veteran guy in Offut, some MAC experience, Ohio and Indiana background, and then Dakich, pretty green with a Big 10 background, experience with veteran coach Beilein, and Indiana and some Ohio and MIchigan contacts. No clue where they'd fit in an "offense/defense" classification. Does he try to connect with someone with "clear" Illinois connections? Someone with a little more experience than he has so far?

Tis minorly odd that our press leases says The Ohio State. Did a clause for that get added to Pedon contract?
The Ohio State University is their actual name. Not just a word they throw at the front. It's the legal name of the university.

“Why are we called "THE" Ohio State University"?
In 1986, a new University logo was introduced in the hopes of moving away from the "OSU" symbol, which had been used since 1977. The change from simply "OSU" was said to "reflect the national stature of the institution." University officials wanted the institution to be known as "The Ohio State University," again, since OSU could also mean Oregon State and Oklahoma State University.
However, the "The" was actually part of the state legislation when the university was renamed in 1878. The following excerpt is from the Board of Trustee minutes:
"...the educational institution heretofore known as the 'Ohio Agricultural and Mechanical College,' shall be known and designated hereafter as 'The Ohio State University.'"
Those who wanted the name change thought the original name was too narrow in scope, and that it was inadequate for the institution that was the only beneficiary of the land grant act. President Edward Orton was insistent that a new name would separate the institution from other colleges in Ohio.
Legend also has it that "The" was used to show the other colleges which institution was supposed to be the leader in the state - both in size and in financial support from the legislature.”

I thought he would have announced his last assistant coach by now. Dead period ends in a couple of days and the portal feeding frenzy will be in full swing.

Sort of agree, but maybe he was in NO for the coaches' convention? Doing some interviewing? Making/renewing connections? Announcement soon!!!??

The staff was in NO. They got home yesterday and watched the game with the team. Per Andrew Dakich on his fathers show this morning.

Get someone off the Arkansas staff. Mussleman plays the portal like an NFL GM plays free agency.
Starts around the 35 min mark and is about 30 min. Andrew is pretty honest about where he is in his career. He needs to be careful though when trying to talk to topics he isn't sure about (ex: NIL). Could definitely get in some trouble there. I know he's young and this is probably the most and longest form of media he's done but he's gotta work on a little coach speak. Understanding he's just shooting the shit with his Dad....just be careful.
Dan is definitely a loud mouth, but a loud mouth screaming out the Redbirds is a good thing. Heck, Benson didn't even write a real article about Dakich joining the staff. He just repurposed the press release. At least Dan will have Andrew on every so often to see how things are going. Dakich has had Pedon on and Andrew twice in the last couple of weeks. Harry Shroeder had Pedon on as well. Nothing from the local guys. Its just disappointing.
I’d go for Keith Smart.

I know it’s not a traditional news breaking day, but it’d be a great day to know the 3rd assistant or get a commitment. The third assistant should be named or leak really any time now. Staffs are being finalized and the musical chairs among assistants will stop shortly.

Could the 3rd assistant be around and hired they just haven't sent out the press release yet? I agree, I'd like some news because I would like to think things will start rolling.

Dakich was on campus for 2 weeks before adunk leaked it. Won’t hear from Benson until university announced it. I guess only way to know without connections is to look at prospective peoples recent follow on Twitter. Dakich started following a ton of ISU accounts before named.
