And as someone who sees/coaches West/Southwest side talent daily:

Jaylen Drane (Simeon) 6'1" PG - Class of 2022, holds offers from NIU, Nebraska, Chicago St., Radford, Siena, Western Illinois, and Milwaukee.
Possible, but with the program needing a sparkplug, meh. It would be a good get.

Dalen Davis (Whitney Young) 5'11" PG - Class of 2023, holds offers from Illinois, Kansas, Stanford, South Carolina, Nebraska, Western Illinois, and DePaul.
No chance. He's P5.

Daniel Johnson (Whitney Young) 6'6" SF - Class of 2023, holds offers from Toledo, Akron, and NIU.
Very Maurice Trotter-ish. I'd like him

Mekhi Cooper (Bolingbrook) 5'10" PG - Class of 2023, holds offers from Chicago State and Howard.
Nah.

Richard Barron (Ignatius College Prep) 6'5" - Class of 2023, holds offers from SIU, Loyola, George Mason, Milwaukee, Kent State, and DePaul.
Really like this player. He'd step in right away.

Ethan Kizer (Metamora) 6'6" - Class of 2023, holds offer from Bradley and (maybe) ISU.
Walk-On.

Miles Rubin (Simeon) 6'8" - Class of 2023, holds offers from Pacific, SIU, Akron, WIU, and NIU.
Project. But very LeRoy-Watkins-ish.

Did they say not committed on the broadcast? VC has him as verbally committed to Army
Joe Hendrickson stated yesterday in his article that Bobby Durkin was “one of the better uncommitted prospects in the senior class”

Bobby Durkin (Glenbard West) is really good! Not committed yet. Not sure what his offers are.

Looks like he is uncommitted. Sometimes VC is a little slow/wrong on this stuff (currently has Antonio Reeves as an early exit pro and Tajuan Simpkins as a HS Class of 2024). Good call.

Just thinking out loud here. Pedon went on Dakich this morning and I missed it. His son, Andrew Dakich, played one year as a grad transfer to Ohio State then spent a couple as a GA. He’s now at Elon as a director of basketball operations.

James Whitford (just let go as HC at Ball State) had some overlap with Pedon at Miami (OH) back in early 2000’s.

Even if neither name is considered it sounds like he’s got a strong plan and won’t cut corners.

I came across Dakich’s name this week when I was looking at recruits the new staff is targeting. Pedon and Offutt both follow him. He’s also followed by our MBB SID… very possible.

Regarding the staff he’s building, I think you hit the mail on the head about not cutting corners. He mentioned in the Pantagraph article that he would love to bring in someone with connections in the state but refuses to sacrifice his vision/culture he wants to build in doing so. It’s the same thing he mentioned during his press conference, he’s not trying to fit any square pegs in a round hole.

Pedon seems to have plenty of folks on speed dial. No idea if that's a good or bad thing. B4 any of the a-hole trolls think it's Muller love, I just am not feeling it yet...but will always support regardless.

You aren’t supporting. You’re doing quite the opposite by criticizing hires before they’ve had a chance to even get settled into the job. That’s not support. That’s trolling.

It is extremely clear to me - you have ZERO business/management background. It is all about knowing people and having connections. If you are a person who cannot get things accomplished, blame others for your shortcomings, and do not put forth effort - you have NO connections, as people do not want you around. There are people who DO and get things done - and then there are others who do nothing but Bitch and Complain.

I hope you find peace. You seem an angry individual. I visit this site to talk hoops. Oh, and I probably have more business/management/coaching/and education on my pinkie than you'll ever be able to type over. I'm going to pump the brakes and see how things play out,

You always bring up your coaching resume to belittle posters. So where’d you coach your basketball? High school? College? I coached for eight years at a technical high school in Florissant, Missouri.

Cool story Birgs, but no one cares because we’re here to advance ISU athletics and not your tiny little ego. If you’re interested in that, just click exit and have a beer with Muller or Judson or whoever.
I dont think a beer is what he's doing with muller....

I now wonder if any of the previous coaching staff will be retained after reading that Q&A article. I thought Johnson was a lock but now I am not so sure. Pedon might not have had any previous relationship and his recruiting base is in the south. Next few weeks will be interesting.
