RPIs and current records of some teams that didn't make the tournament.
33 Iona(25-8)
35 North Texas(25-6)
42 BYU(24-10)
43 SMU(24-8)

RPIs and current records of teams that made it.
49 Michigan(19-14)
54 Ohio State(20-11)
70 Indiana State(21-14)
91 Rutgers(18-14)

I am not going to beat up on the committee too much because overall they did a pretty good job. However, when it doubt they usually go with the big 10 teams. The only good thing about that is Rick Pittino(Iona) now knows how it feels to win your conference by 3 games with an rpi of 33, lose your tournament, then not make it.

Some day the committee might learn to quit putting so many big 10 teams in. It's so ridiculous.

Had an Illini friend post on his facebook that now the Illini Guardians are trying to get enough money together to keep Kofi from going to the NBA. So fricking stupid. A booster run NLI group basically trying to pay their best player to stay. Really makes it tough to keep following college sports.

Course, the guardians or whatever are under the disguise of a group trying to match players to NLI possibilities. Yeah right.

I believe this is being done with good players at other universities. They are trying to make it financially worth it to stick around. In Kofi's case they are going to need to come up with probably north of 2 million which is likely what he'll get from the NBA.

I've seen projections that have him late in the first round, and if he goes in the first round he'll get at least 1.6 million.
He’d probably wind up best case comparable to Ayo who got 2 years 2.5 million. Kofi would’ve been a lottery pick in the 90s. He just doesn’t have a great fit in todays NBA.

I would agree. I'd say late first, more probably second round is likely.

Maybe it should be pointed out that Houston overcame losing 2 of their best players for the year. Their leading scoring at 17ppg was out since Dec. Their 6th man only played in 7 games before he was out for the year. He averaged 10 ppg as well.

So they are down 27 ppg per game and still over came it. On to the S16 for them.

Houston has a net ranking of 3rd in the country and an rpi of 8th in the country. That usually equates to a 1 or 2 seed from a Power 5 conference. Since Houston is not in a power 5 conference, the committee felt they should be a 5 seed. I love hard they keep playing without 2 of their better players.

Drake just lost to UNC Wilmington by 1 in their tournament. Not that it matters, but we beat UNCW in our home opener

I think Illinois had the most talent of the B10 but they started to sputter toward the end. They weren’t hitting their 3s like they did during the year and turning the ball over and they couldn’t seem to get things going. BU doesn’t seem to get them ready for tournament games. Houston is a real good team but I thought the Illini should have beat them. I wonder if next year the B10 will take a hit because of their performance the last two years.
They have been performing like that for over 20 years! All they do is get more teams in. They have not won the tournament since 2000.

Kofi should take that money. It is more than he will get paid by an NBA team. Kofi's skill is only being BIG. He can't shoot, he can't run, he can't defend, he can't jump, he can't pass well. Other than that he has everything you need to play in the NBA.

Their record against potential tourney teams was very poor. That being said, they would have been a top 8 team without their injuries.

In the last two years, the lil ten has sent 18 teams in and only three made it out of the first weekend. DYNASTY!!! Sarcasm.

Do you think any of this will matter next year? Nope. Maybe the ncaa can start the game with the lil ten teams leading 20-0 at the tip. Then they might have a shot.

Purdue looks to be getting a YUGE break with the Peacocks knocking off Kentucky and Murray St. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.

They couldn’t get past Houston with Houston playing without two of their best players. So how were they going to get to the Elite 8? Injuries happen! Who was injured last year when they lost to Loyola?

He’s talking about Houston. Illinois was never fully healthy either, but they had a good amount of T1 wins.
