I would pay $100,000 to not have Matt Hein on the roster

Put up or shut up

Donating to the university doesn't guarantee Hein is off the team. Get a contract written up where it says if Hein stays then you get double the money. That's how you do. Force their hand.

I don't think it ends his career, but I do think it has to end his tenure at Arizona, and probably earn him a year or more ban. If he coaches and Ayton plays or some combination of it, the NCAA is going to have to act swiftly and harshly or they are going to lose a lot of face...though if I had my guess he is put on administrative leave, and Ayton is ruled ineligible and doesn't play the rest of the year.

I would expect as the spring goes on, we are going to get more of this.

Agreed. Sampson still has a job....so...

Different animal. Sampson - phone calls to recruits or connections of recruits. He was warned repeatedly, almost childishly kept making phone calls, so he got fudgsicle'd.

This is livewire from the multi-million dollar HEAD COACH saying HERE'S WHERE THE MONEY GOES.

Not good.

I am a little frustrated by some of the talking heads' analysis of this situation. "These kids need to be paid". They need to get more to avoid situation like this". I know I am an old fogey purist. But I say if a kid wants to go the NBA and they want him right out of college, fine by me. Maybe the NBA should develop their D League into more of a minor league system. I would like to see the STUDENT part of the the student athlete be strong. I also think it will level the playfield for all college programs. And end this crap that is going on.

Sounds like someone brought some preconceived notions to the situation.

College players are getting 1/4 million dollar scholarships, now. Start paying them and it will turn the P5s into a boring pro league and the majority of aspiring players will end up at mid-majors playing for scraps. You complain about not getting into the Big Dance... in a money environment a school like ISU will NEVER see NCAA post-season. The good players will be auctioned off out of HS and the rest will have to settle for a school that won't even be able to fully scholarship players.

Miller is out at Arizona
Yet Ayton is confirmed to play. At least San Diego State suspended Malik Pope for tonight.

Call me crazy, but I'm going to enjoy this lovely scandal from start to finish knowing that our program is cleaner than a preacher's sheets. In fact, I'd like this thing to cause a massive cataclysmic nightmare scenario resulting in countless P5 program suspensions and dozens of hours of sequel material for ESPN's 'Pony Express' death penalty episode. Perhaps we may see a 2019 final four of Illinois State, Old Dominion, UAB, and, say, UC-Irvine out here in the West bracket. One can only hope.

Do your thing, Feds....

It's finally out in the open that the P5 is actually the C5.....the Corrupt 5. NCAA has tilted college hoops toward the C5 for the past 25 years. It's about time the whistle gets blown on all those money hungry programs and conferences.

Birdsflyhigh, you know that the NCAA even has a special designation for the P5's. They are called the "Autonomus" conferences. There are different rules. I like your designation -- the C5 is quite fitting.

Same as it's ever been. Like any of this hasn't been going on for at least 50 years. Anyone remember Alvin O'Neil from Peoria Spalding/Illinois?

This is all so shocking.

When 'Clean Gene' had Scooter McCray and Anthony Brown at the ISU basketball banquet it was because they both had a lifelong goal of playing for Illinois St. Of course, Gene was gone a week later for Wichita, where he immediately recruited Antoine Carr, Cliff Levingston, Aubrey Sherrod, Greg Dreiling, etc.

All P5, right?

Kinda makes one wonder how we went from newbie in D1 to ranked 13th in 8 years . . .
