The Clinton Foundation has money enough to form a new pro league. And you think college basketball is crooked now... wait til Hillary starts speaking at games and Bill mentors college players on sex.

You must play Right Field.

If you begin to pay basketball players, you’ll also have to start paying football, then maybe baseball, wrestling, softball, etc...where will it end?!
Best way to avoid all of this...a minor league system. Isaiah tried it years ago and it fell flat, probably ‘cause the wrong guy was in charge. Time to take another look.

Check out one of LaVar Ball's newest projects, and no, I'm not talking about Big Baller Brand Water.

Essentially, high school graduates can go and play in this league where they can earn anywhere from 3k-10k per month. This league will act as a "school" for basketball players to help teach them financial responsibility and how to be a pro athlete. I'm actually for this. I love college basketball too much (I watched North Florida and NJIT last night...), and I think this would help get SOME of the corruption out of the game.

Or use the Trump Foundation and promise them payment, but just never make it.

I'm for this to, just not run by him. If he gets someone reputable to run it then ok maybe. But he has so many people that paid him for shoes that don't have them, I'd pass on giving him money or signing contracts.

Agreed, with his name attached to it, I'd never pay attention to it as a fan, and if I were a player I'd never be associated with it. Hell at this point, I would caution any player that would join his league, because this guy is never on the up and up. I'd call Ball a trash human being but it would be an insult to trash human beings...

As long as it doesn't start looking like North Florida and NJIT every night. Or worse. D1 could look like D2 or D3 in a hurry if all the real athletes that aren't interested in going to college in the first place have this option. I'll bet 75-80% of basketball and football players in D1 programs right now aren't interested in being there scholastically, and probably wouldn't have been accepted/gained admission based purely on academic merit.

Be careful what you ask for. If the product sucks, I would rather just live with the corruption.

Step in the right direction...but I agree that Ball is too slimy to make his work. He will always have ulterior motives

Mr. Ball is a marketer and he knows how to get people talking. NOT a fan of his antics.

It is interesting, though. Watching Lonzo. He keeps his cool. He answers direct. He's polite. He looks people in the eye. He's very level-headed on the court. He's a good teammate. Selfless on the court. And he walked into the NBA at 19. Kid should be an absolute raging cocky AAAAAAAAAA-hole. He isn't.

Not a fan of DaddyBallAntics...but in regards to Lonzo...he did something right.

The other two Ball Boys are more of what you expect. The youngest is the worst kid, and has to spend two years in Lithuania.

LaVar's league would go over like a lead balloon. It would need to generate revenue to sustain it and I don't see this getting much fan interest.

I would let the NBA develop their own minor leagues. They can start with the D League.

NBA contributes to this with their one year removed from HS eligibility rule.

I’m not sure why we don’t take on a club mentality. It works fairly well in soccer internationally. A lot of clubs will find kids and train them, house them, educate them, and prepare them for their futures whether in the sport or not. They see it as an investment. And it behooves them to help these kids learn to be successful whether playing or in another endeavor.

NBA has plenty of money to do something like this.
