He had a team go 17-1 in conference - played well all year and he built that team from scratch. No carryovers from the previous regime. He should have been rewarded with a contract but I do agree the 7 years was a Big Mistake. Asst. Coaching departures and the plane crash play into some of Muller's challenges but granted he comes up short. Even when we've had talent/experience, Dan has never been one to win many games at the end.....we tend
to do something silly leading to a close loss. Frankly, those days are well past us now where we're tickled to stay close.

When we were losing those games at the end I don't think I was yelling that was "silly."

Oliver is still an assistant. YAK as we all know is at UIC playing 500 ball and I will say not his team yet as he just arrived. Before we say it was because of them let's see how they do. Just like all coaches they start getting noticed and get jobs but can they win when they take over? I agree both have done a great job as assisstant coaches but can they lead a team.

But apparently not Reese.

Guess the next head coach that comes in and gets us to the Big Dance all credit goes to the assistant coaches.

Sorry Donewald, Bender & Stallings ...

Having better players than everyone except Wichita was what got us to 17-1. The league was awful that year.

It’s a shame that those players weren’t better coached and it wouldn’t have been one good season.

It’s like this season. Do we have the talent to beat Loyola or Drake? No (but who knows, Dan literally said the plan for Drake was to sit in a zone and hope they miss. With a real scouting report or gameplan, we might be able to compete), but you can’t convince me we shouldn’t be able to beat Valpo, Indy State, and Evansville. Those two awful teams (Indy State and Evansville) are sitting in 3rd and 4th.

The fact we are coached like a 6th grade rec team is the difference between the cellar and competing for 3rd. Our 4 and 5’s aren’t great, but the league only has 3 good big guys in the league, Prim, Krutwig, and Brodie (who couldn’t get on the court at Seton Hall).

I re-watched the Drake games. In game 2 it’s 16-8, Dan starts his pouting by putting his hands in pockets and stops coaching. The 3 assistants don’t seem to do anything other than just sit on the bench (no energy or coaching other than Jones calling dumb plays during the entire season).

The only guy doing any coaching is the student assistant in the back. He’s calling out Drake’s plays (doing it all year). When the only guy doing any coaching is the student assistant, why not just pay him to run things? It can’t be any worse.

Sounds like a lot of it was Dana Ford.

When Hawkins left Dunbar High School (Ohio) he was rated as one of the top 50 forwards in the country and the fourth best player in his state. He was a part of two state championship teams. ‘Teddy’ was recruited to Wichita State by then assistant coach Dana Ford who is now an assistant at Illinois State.

Me too. What a night that would have been. Stupid call at the end...
Unfortunately, it should have never came down to a call at the end. Kind of like the UNI game in the Valley Tournament with the huge lead at half. I thought for sure that game was over.

Give 20,000 parking tickets at $80 a piece. I dont give a **** how they get the money at this point. rob a bank for all i care.
I think they already issue 20,000 parking tickets a year but the pandemic may have impacted those numbers too

I have another thought on this. Tyler Brown. We should have seen then what was to come. In retrospect it’s quite clear.

What’s the difference between raising $1.2 million to get rid of a lousy deal or $1.2 mil to renovate the Redbird Room? I’m not saying this has happened. If you hire the right person, give them a year to year contract and make the tournament...you will probably get your money back. It sounds like you and few others are just attached to Dan. It’s business to me. I will never again complain when a coach leaves for greener pastures! If we can’t afford him- so be it!

When have you ever got the impression that I was attached with Dan Muller? I've been calling for his head for years!!! If you gave as much money as I have to Illinois State you would understand

Horrible, shitty, ridiculous, incredibly bad call at the end of the UCF game. NO way should a foul have been called at that time in the game. That ref sucks, still to this day...he sucks.

That being said we should have never been in that position to allow the ref to screw us on the call. Why even get within three feet of the shooter that far from the hoop? Bad decision making on our part.

It would have been great to see illinoy here. But as the story with Redbird basketball goes...shoulda, woulda, coulda...didn't.

Here is thing about donating money, once you do it that is it. Pounding on our chest saying look how much I gave doesn't get your money back or change the outcome. Also the amount is all relative. The people receiving in this case ISU are not asking how much are you giving compared to your income level. So to them your donation is no better than the next and is gone before it clears the bank more than likely. I will say if you are making mutlipe seven figure donations then you might have some pull. I have no idea what you gave but if that is this case, impressive. As a donor and fan myself I underastand your frustration with losing but the Unviersity doesn't care what we think.

It was a foul. He shouldn't have been any where near to make that foul.
