I am hard pressed to remember a worse
Performance. Just freaking embarrassing. One for 18 from three? And several were airballs. Coach said before the game he has good shooters. Where? I am really disappointed and discouraged at this point.

That one I wouldn't pin on them. If the truth was "the player made it up, the coach embellished things that weren't corroborated, the coach was uncooperative with the investigation" -- you know very well how that will go publicly.

They might've just figured they were best off letting it be a dead body under the bridge now that everyone's forgotten about it.
Statistically speaking ... its hard to keep getting worse but they prove me wrong each game

Here are the last 9 games

Valpo 1 - 18 5.6%
Belmont 5 - 23 21.7%
SIU 3 - 18 16.7%
Drake 9 - 21 42.9%
Kentucky 8 - 35 22.9%
SEMO 8 - 23 34.8%
NDSU 2 - 9 22.2%
Norfolk St 5 - 27 18.5%
N Kentucky 8 - 27 29.6%

49 -201 or 23.4%

Hard to believe that could be done over 9 games
Poor coaching that we still continue to shoot them. Game plan should be to work the 1/2 court with Myles as the center of the offense.

Reminds me of when Odzic transferred in from USC. We kept hearing about how he was the best shooter on the team and drilling everything in practice. He ended up 2-19 from three point land in 50 games for us.
I could drill everything in practice! I know I couldn't get a shot off in a college game though! How miserable is practice going to be for 2 days? Preparing for Drake!

I couldn’t agree more. After another second half lineup shakeup, with still time to mount a comeback, Pedon allows Schmidt and Sissoko to launch ridiculous three balls!!??? I’m sorry, but we are bad enough three point shooters with Mal, Burford, Luke and Johnny. But to not forbid certain players from launching up threes on their own, that is 100% on the coach. He has to own that. We have seen that over and over again with Lieb, etc. Can someone tell me why we consistently have a 7 footer camped out on the three point line that isn’t there to set a screen??? These are questions you would ask of a middle school or HS coach. I cannot believe what is constantly allowed to transpire. Our ONLY chance is to bust the ball down low on the block and rebound for second chance points. In reality this is a roster of Non-Division 1 talent. To make matters worse our coaching staff has no clue on how to coach them, play to their strength’s or recognize their many limitations.

It is really hard to watch this team. Really hard. I’ve tried to be optimistic but that ship has just sailed.

Drake by 30 and that is if they sit the starters for last 10 mins.

In attendance folks it was worse than the TV ''show.'

I constantly watch body language. Year in/year out. In the game and especially coming out of the game. Long story short, we have some attitude problems (I wouldn't say major problems) and we most DEFINITELY, as Redbird222 states...have a confidence problem.

The 5 man substitution in the 2nd half...Ryan should have stuck with it longer. Maybe much longer. IMMEDIATELY the first possession the ball is moving much better and the players are moving. It goes in to Schmitt and he makes an excellent post move. He didn't convert but it was one of our best possessions of the game. Then we cut the lead in half - and he starts subbing again.

Its really not fair for me to say , I've chirped about it for a year and a half, but I'm beginning to question the coaching. Forget the assistants. The buck stops with Ryan and that's where I'm pointing my finger. Many reasons. Some other post. I am most definitely rooting for Ryan, though.

Mal, for the first time EVER, looked somewhat disinterested. He's the character guy on this team and that is unacceptable, especially from an upperclassman. Kendall was showing some attitude and he and Ryan went at it a bit. Kendall was somewhat blocking his man but he didn't physically put his butt in his man, Valpo went right over top and got the offensive board over Kendall. He yanked Kendall and then the whole team. Kendall not happy and was laughingly shaking his head at his head coach during timeout. Ryan called him out on the block out, and then his attitude, and I support Coach on that one. That's unusual for Kendall.

We are NOT this poor of a shooting team. 222 covers it well. We've had a confidence problem for a while and now it's showing up in virtually every aspect...especially shooting.

The freshman get a pass but the upperclassman NEED TO DEAL WITH IT. Adversity happens. I do think Ryan leaves players wondering where the hek they stand....but the vets need to overcome it and lead the way in doing it. Having attitude problems and allowing their confidence to plummet...at the end of the day that's on them and it isn't acceptable!! Upperclassman...no matter who is playing...LOOK IN THE MIRROR, STEP UP AND ADJUST YOUR ATTITUDES.

We're an average team but if we don't step up and fight, we could end up as a POOR team.
I feel like this is in line with some of what I have heard also.

The offense needs to be coached around the one strength that we have, which is rebounding. So run the offense through Foster, Lewis and Chase on the low post. This would create a lot of easy high percentage shots and generate more fouls. When the post guys are double team, then kick out for midrange shooters only. This team needs to abandon the 3 point shot all together!
ISU needs to learn how to push the ball up court faster with the pass and create 2 on 1 and 3 on 1 advantages. Also, we need to improve on our free throw shooting (69%).
Or crash the boards hard on every three we shoot. Given the randomness of how balls carom off of a three, I’d imagine the OREB% is slightly higher than on closer range shots.

Still have to shoot open threes or all spacing breaks down. But I agree that there are certain players that should not be shooting them under any circumstance.

Last year did Seneca Knight get everyone better shots? We have a true post scorer this year, but it hasn't helped the 3 point shooters. Apparently, he was better at driving and kicking to shooters. Good handles and big enough to see all the passing lanes.

There are a couple of ways to attack this moving forward. My first thought has already been mentioned earlier… pound the ball inside and space accordingly just within the arc and pass out if needed. Or when driving the lane, take the 12 foot shot. We average approximately 65 possessions a game….50 shots in the two point area where our make % is much better.
The other option is go scorched earth and shoot our way out of this horrendous slump…..all three point shots every possession!!😀😀🥴🥴😆😆.

Let's wait till St. Louis to go scorched earth, we will have every team right where we want them. My guess is we miss them now because they've set the background in practice to look like the background in St. Louis. Its the big picture coaching.

Although it will be empty in St. Louis and it's empty in RBA, so we should be hitting them better. So I guess I just debunked my own theory, LOL.

CU i like your posts but no No NO on this one. Seneca scored some points - and we needed points - but we were NOT a better TEAM for it. If Seneca got it in the paint he became a black hole and he saw nothing else & thought nothing else but a bucket attempt.

Somebody mentioned it before, but as poor as we played today - I have a feeling we're going to give Drake a game. Or maybe that's the delusion from the cold speaking.
