The reason isn't even the money, its that none of the students really care to go to the games. The product is bad. Even a few years ago when I was in school not a lot of students cared. What incentive do I have to physically go to RBA when I can sit at the pub or my friends apartment and watch the games from there? I was one of the few who showed up to each game, and that's because I grew up with ISU. If you were a new student in 2020 and knew nothing previously about ISU basketball, why would you show up after the last 4 years?
That’s exactly why us not being able to fire Muller quicker set us back far more than we realized.

I'm all for cuts. Cut football right now, throw most if it at basketball and spread the rest among the other sports. Done.
every option should be on the table...goal is to revist athletic offering /strategy to maximize value to the universtiy, students, alums and the community. the world has chaged big time while our athletic department has remained the same

I’m almost to the point where letting Muller ride out the last years of his contract would’ve been more appealing.
Maybe. That game where he quit on the team in the closing minutes against Indiana State was damning. I still can’t believe that.

Might be that was intentional? Getting fired earned him $1M. Resigning would get him $0
I think he lost the desire to coach. The Torrey Ward death was very difficult on Dan. I’m not sure if he will ever totally recover from that. He no longer had a desire to deal with the transfer portal. He has said the reason he loved coaching was the relationships he had with his player’s, but those were more difficult with the transfer portal. Said he will never coach again.
Not having someone foul at the end of that game, after starting for four years at ISU, being a Dl assistant coach for 13 years, and a Dl Head Coach for 10 years makes it hard for me to believe he could make that mistake. Question though, wouldn’t it be on an Assistant Coach to track score, time on shot clock/game clock, time out’s left, foul situation?
