BYU gave up 92 points, need to fire their coach. Horrible!!!

Actually, their coach is on the hot seat. He had a successful first five seasons but by BYU standards the last five season haven't been great (even though they've made at least the NIT every season). He's gone after this season unless they turn this season around.

I wish our LOW standard was the NIT every season with an NCAA every five seasons like BYU. At BYU that gets you fired.

Can see that. And they've had a guy sitting out last season and all so far for being ineligible. A guy they were really counting on . . . sound familiar? Coaches needing to win sometimes have to gamble on a player or two . . .

If this kid is as good as advertised, they could still be a really good team.

The only reason to limit minutes is for exposure to injury. These are 20-ish kids that have played basketball constantly for many years. They don’t get tired playing a single college game with mandated TV timeouts every 4 minutes.

If that's the case name me one kid in all of college basketball who plays 40 min a game. This is a LONG season and it's a freakin' grind physically and emotionally. I get your point, but you're asking for trouble playing a kid that much, with rare exception. Especially so given our group, who seems to have caught an injury virus over the last...2...years. If I see another boot I'm going to shove it up someone's...

Went to Loyola game the other night. Martin twins...one played 40 and the other played 38 minutes.

More importantly manage the minutes in practice where they are playing and conditioning for longer periods of time.

You see it on occasion, I'm not doubting that. But game in game out you don't see it much at all. Maybe the Martin boys (make that Porter) will prove me wrong.

I think elite players, accept for coaching moments and foul trouble, should be able to play 32 to 34 minutes a game if in good health/conditioning. That allows one or two 2 minute breaks a half. If there are a lot of fouls like last night's game then players are getting refreshed all of the time.

Here are the Nevada minutes but this is extreme in that they only used 7 players. In same game Custer and Townes had 37 minutes each. Williamson played 32. Saw the Purdue box score last night and they had Edwards at 39 minutes and another starter at 37 (might have been Eastern). I would hope that both Fayne and Milik are able to log 35 minutes on average per game and I think they need to play near that much in order for ISU to excel. They both are the type of athletes that can do it and should be playing that much, IMO.

10 MARTIN, Caleb 40
11 MARTIN, Cody 38
24 CAROLINE, Jordan 34
15 PORTER, Trey 29
0 THURMAN, Tre'Shawn 36
22 JOHNSON, Jazz 19
21 BROWN, Jordan 4

Actually their coach just got an extension and is one of the best coaches if not the best BYU has ever had. Don’t just make crap up

And there are a lot of fouls for us.

We currently foul the opponent 19.4 times per game, which puts us at 211 in the country for fouls per game.

We have fouled our opponent 155 times, while we have only been fouled 136 times. Our opponents have shot 35 more fts than us on the season and have made 32 more than us.

It is a small thing, but the fouling and FT's will be huge in close games.

They will need to learn how to stay out of foul trouble to average over 35 minutes.

LOL. The guy literally just got extended earlier this month. He’s also like 40 wins away from becoming the school’s all time coaching wins leader.

It’s bad enough to constantly spam the board with idiotic hot takes but you definitely can’t just make things up as you go.

Biggest home NON CONFERENCE, NON POSTSEASON win since ....... ??????

Meta...love your excitment but that's part of our problem around here. It was a really good win for us and the atmosphere for the last 10 min was quite festive. The way a college basketball environment should be!! But our highs are too high and our lows are WAY too low.

If we come through this next home stretch undefeated, I'll join ya.

Wasn’t trying to be too high or too low was just trying to figure out our best early season home win recently. Haven’t had many over good programs. Cincinnati several years ago.... none other come to mind without thinking too much.

The good “name” teams have kicked out butt recently. VCU, UNLV, etc

Didn't realize he got extended. But you can Google articles of him being on the hot seast. Guess the extension takes care of that question. Also I'll point out it's a one year extension so not like they have much faith.

Trying to figure out how excitement over a big win and a thrilling game is a problem around here.

Having Elijah Bryant leave early hurt them.
Elijah Bryant
Yoeli Childs
T.J. Haws
Those three would definitely be tough to stop. I know they were last year in Provo.

Plus, the will get Nick Emery back soon. You add those guys together and they are a different team.
