That was a great trip and win, Rico. I seem to also remember watching the tape of the Bradley game on the bus. Heck, we might have been sitting together :) Thanks for the memory. You described it just as I remember it.

Was at them too. Rode one of several busses for the NIt game and stood.in the death trap end zone rafters. Wife and I went to the regular season game the next year. Might have been the barns last year. You're right about Dick

If my old brain remembers correctly we took 9 busses including band and cheerleaders. What a fun & exciting game.

No question that will go down as my of my favorite ISU memories.

I still get chills thinking about how loud it was when ISU came out of the tunnel before the game. Also, remember spending most of the game fighting off running water that was leaking out of the bleachers.

All the young kids will not appreciate how different the times were. We watched a VHS tape of the ISU-Bradley game on our bus going to the game (everyone was liquored and fired up by the time we reached Madison). I used a payphone to call back to Bloomington to let everyone know I made it and had someone record the WJBC broadcast on a cassette tape (listened to that until about 4 in the morning when I got back. Bob Morris complaining about some cheesehead kicking him is classic audio).

Good times. Need to get back to that level of excitement!!

Leroy Watkins with his wrist taped up, which somehow made him a good free throw shooter that night

The crazy staircase that led up to the balcony (if there was a fire there you were dead)

one bathroom, conveniently located at the opposite end of the stadium

I don't like calling out officiating either, birdlife. Especially since I am one of those guys myself :) And, it's hard for me imagine calling a game at that level. Junior high and high school is just fine for me. And those guys are mostly outstanding. Especially John Higgins, who was the center on that call on Evans, standing very close to the play.

It is not at all unusual for another official to help out on a call like that. Even if it's close it is still off the ball for the near official. But in this case, the trail who made the call was very far away from the play. He had several players in his area, and at the very least blocking his vision. He could of easily missed something in his area because it appears he was ball watching. If that was a foul, no doubt Higgins would have got it. It was one of those plays I wanted to wait and see the video on. Very often, during the game I think something was missed or wrong, but after watching it, and rewatching the recording, you see why the official made the call he did.

There did seem to be some ongoing consisitency issues in the BYU game. On a couple of occasions when that got out of kilter, you can kind of tell the refs trying to adjust back.

i appreciate the insight bb fan. agreed, cant imagine how difficult it would be to call a game at that level. especially one as competitive as this was.

Might have been on the same bus!! I'll never forget how pumped up everyone was for about 30 minutes heading home and then everyone crashing/passing out and being silence the rest of the way. Would love a road trip to an NCAA Tournament game!

Also, even though we argue and have some different opinions on the athletic department, I know we both love ISU basketball. Let's go beat SDSU and keep the momentum rolling.

Will you guys quit reminiscing about a great game and get back to complaining about winning this game?
