What I like about Evans besides the fact that he can flat out shoot is for the first time in a long time we have someone who can “stop and pop”. He gets to the rack, he clearly had the outside shot and he can pull up off a full dribble and hit the intermediate shot.
Excellent point. It has been a long time since a Redbird has done this.

I think Evans has decided that this is his team. It’s great to see him getting cheered on via twitter by Paris, who calls Keyshawn his “son.”

If Elijah Clarence can give us a serviceable option to given Keyshawn a breather or play them together to give a different look, I think we’ll be in great shape when he gets back. I also like the fact that MY and KE can both bring the ball up the floor if need be.

We talked to Keyshawn at a volleyball game. I mentioned this is his team now and he said " It's my turn" I think we're in for a treat this season with him.

I recorded the game and just got around to watching it. And I just want to say that this team should run through the Valley regular season just as last year’s team did. The talent is there. Offensively, we have so many weapons. And we’re not even fully healthy. Defensively, if they bring the intensity night in and night out, they should stifle every Valley opponent, with the possible exception of MSU.

That said, the operative word is “should.” We saw Friday that they have the potential for massive letdown games. Hopefully that was a lesson that they will not have to learn again. I think the minutes these guys like Hein, Litweiler and Gassman are getting right now will pay off big time later in the season, especially in the Valley tournament.

I haven’t been this excited about a team since Jackie Carmichael’s senior year. Dan was not kidding when he said this was be his most talented recruiting class. Now let’s hope they can put it all together.

Keyshawn is doing his best Tarise Bryson impersonation. At this rate he will obliterate Jeff Harris' single season record for 3 pointers.

I like how in the post game interview they asked Milik what he learned or what the team learned this first week. His answer was that it is defender first and that sets the tone. When Elijah comes back Key will be able to play more 2 guard which should help his scoring even more. This team didn't fold when Tulsa made their run. This team hits their free throws!

Milik is what I hoped MiKyle would become - a very skilled all-round player. Milik, I think, is better in several categories - shooting, passing, and ballhandling

I really like what I have seen of this team, and I think we will challenge for the MVC championship but I have a few concerns.

Positives
Keyshawn offense
Defense when we focus
Fight
Length
MY passing
Matchup issues we present
Scoring off of timeouts

Concerns
Free throws besides Malik
Consistent Inside offense
Rebounding
Depth, not knowing who is coming back when
Injury potential, lots of minutes for key guys now
Body language and defensive mindset (better but still a concern)

Some of this has improved since FGCU, keep improving and get and stay healthy

I agree with this 100%. Milik is a total stud.

Nothing against MiKyle

But MY is a far superior offensive player. I don't think it's particularly close.

MY needs to be focused and bring his best at both ends night in and night out. If he does he will become the best all around player in the Valley.

I’m looking forward to that too. And Ndiaye too. Fayne can play more 4 than 5. And M.Y. Can play some 3 rather than 4.

I'm already looking forward to the Alize Johnson/Milik Yarbrough matchups.

And just because Sgt Hulka already mentioned it, our zone is going to be tough to score against again this year.

Redbird Football ate Zones en route to Youngstown. Won 35-0.

Same weekend Ironmen ate Zones for their Friday team meal and won 42-0.

Redbird Football did not eat Zones en route to SDSU.

NCHS did not eat Zones before Mount Carmel.

Visiting Case Western also ate Zones and beat Zoneless IWU 28-0 yesterday.

Might be something to this...

Are you say he had no interest anywhere or no D1 interest?

“I learned we handle adversity very well, but not success. Hopefully we'll improve on that.”

Interesting quote by Dan. Team was a little too high after South Carolina. Maybe it had more to do with the attitude than the lack of fresh legs available for Boise State?

I like the Calzone correlation. However, how did Case Western - from Cleveland and do not visit B-N, know about Calzones?

Slade’s Sunday Five:

1. I wish I would have formed a Boy Band when I was a kid instead of playing endless games of Bas-ket and trying to get a ping-pong ball in a metal hoop.

2. Defense may win championships, but teams look so much better when they can actually put the ball in the basket.

3. Keyshawn is unbelievable. I wonder if we would recognize him if he shaved his head and face. Small sample size, but is he the best shooter since Tarise?

4. I wonder if MiKyle and Deontae didn’t return because they knew they wouldn’t be starting.

5. I wish I would have formed a band called Chainsmokers instead of smoking Swisher Sweets and drinking a gallon of beer on Tuesday Quart Nights at the Cellar.

Spread it!

They have one in Athens, Columbus and Bowling Green Ohio. I have been to the one in Athens. The one in Normal is much better.
