3. Keyshawn is unbelievable. I wonder if we would recognize him if he shaved his head and face. Small sample size, but is he the best shooter since Tarise?
Really small sample size, and percentage numbers that aren't sustainable. Key's shooting 63% from 3. He will regress. I'm just hoping he doesn't plummet.

Tarise was not really a shooter. He was a playmaker. For his career, he shot 42% from the field, 38.6% from 3 (Key shot 38.1% last year). But Tarise was a clutch shooter and good passer. He wanted the ball when the game was on the line. And he found ways to put points on the board when his shot wasn't falling. Had he played a final season, Tarise would have had a real good chance to crack the top-10 in assists for a career at ISU.

Tyler Brown was a pure shooter (45% and 42% respectively).

But I would take Tarise over Tyler in an instant. And I liked Tyler.

FWIW, in the game, I was attending an event for my daughter in Indianapolis, so couldn't watch the game. I'm looking forward to watching a replay of it on ESPN3 tomorrow.

Maybe it had more to do with the attitude than the lack of fresh legs available for Boise State?
It's probably a mix. You don't play as hard as our guys played against USC and have a full tank the next day. If we look back at this field in February and view ourselves as one of the 3 best teams in attendance, you'll know it was a heck of a year.

In other words, un-fresh legs played a part, but Muller wasn't going to let that get in the way of a teaching moment.

Dan should probably get coach of the year for the Hein transformation of a junior high-like player who couldn’t get the ball past half court to a serviceable player with so much more confidence. With that transformation in mind, fast forward to next year and how much Bruninga is going to improve.

Redbird Football ate Zones en route to Youngstown. Won 35-0.

Same weekend Ironmen ate Zones for their Friday team meal and won 42-0.

Redbird Football did not eat Zones en route to SDSU.

NCHS did not eat Zones before Mount Carmel.

Visiting Case Western also ate Zones and beat Zoneless IWU 28-0 yesterday.

Might be something to this...

Zonin' = Winnin'

Get in the Zone... Wait...Get the Zone in you!
BTW, the Key Zone sounds horrible. Eggs, Potato and Watermelon? Well maybe an nice Watermelon Aioli and a dollup of Creme Fraiche

I'm so tired of playing Tulsa. Three times last year and now twice this year. Give me a break.

Yea but would about getting tired of playing some of the same dog MVC teams year after year?

But those are built in. Non-conference schedule only has so many openings every year. I know what the 18 conference games are.

Well said, Slade. We do look much better when we can score and the other team cannot throw the ball in the ocean.
Game 1....Both teams shoot well and we lose.
Game 2....SC cannot shoot and we win despite not shooting well either
Game 3....We cannot shoot and they can for most of the game and we lose
Game 4....We shoot well and TU does not until it is too late and we win.

So, a very inconsistent performance to date by our Birds. Our lack of depth catches up with us at times. 2-3 more players in the rotation will really help.

Biggest surprise to me.....The elevation of Key's offensive game. Second....Matt Hein contributing.

Biggest bust to date.....Tinsley not shooting at all. I expected a lot more and hope it happens. He is making Tony Wills look like a good shooter so far.

It was nice to see the GASSMAN drive the lane and hit a couple of buckets!

We win the LOU! BOOK IT!

Boogie will be my pick to click until he finally breaks out....birds need another scorer to start being a consistent offense, even when someone has an off night.

We just went 2-2, all away from home, with 0 cupcakes involved. This without our starting center and best interior defender, our touted freshman point guard, and another other legit interior presence. Not to mention our prized JC transfer being ineligible. I was prepared to come home 0-4, and instead they beat an SEC school, and an AAC school. This team has a good chance at winning the conference once they are healthy. Just gotta learn to guard M2M more effectively. Muller is a miracle worker at this point...

I won't try to take away any credit for the coach, but part of it is fans putting expectations on a kid to contribute right away, when for some it takes a couple years to get it together. Many of us on the board seem to think every freshman should walk right in and claim PT and contribute. Doesn't always work that way. Patience people, patience.

That is why I think Madison Williams will break out this year. Just like Key did late last year

I think Tinsley is pressing/forcing his shot right now, just needs to let the game come to him. It would be nice to have a little more inside presence as it's much easier to get in a shooting rhythm going inside-out. He'll be fine

Sorry, I really thought it was three times in two tournaments. I'm blaming it on baby exhaustion.

Still, its pretty unheard of to play the same NC opponent four times in two years.

It's probably time to quit blaming your current failures on what happened when you were a baby. Just sayin' . . . ;)
