That’s not what I’m saying. I’m saying his ASU team is not good. Sweet they beat UCLA - good enough for their 7th win of the season! I envy their basketball program!
LOL, I am not sure if we are in a debate here or not? The ASU program is currently having a bad year, very true. However have recently gotten a couple NCAA bids. I imagine DJ was thinking they might have a shot to get another bid and he could play significant minutes... The NCAA part is not working out that way. Ultimately, he's playing P5 competition on a regular basis and starting in the Pac12. He will definitely look back and be glad he decided to transfer. He could be having a big year for ISU, but again playing Thursday in STL, what satisfaction would he get from that?... been there done that.

And beating the #3 team in the country coming off a Final4 appearance is a pretty big accomplishment. Would he have had that opportunity at ISU??

All I am saying is DJ is better off in his current situation, as many posters seemed to think he made a bad move.

He clearly made the right choice. I will never denigrate a kid for trying to better his chances at a pro career.

He played against and beat UCLA last night. We lost at home to SIU. Didn’t Bill Walton call the ASU game? Better competition should make him a better player.

I hate when a great player leaves our program but I understand and respect their decision.

The only logical reason posters on here think Reeves would have been better off staying at ISU are saying that for selfish reasons.
The exposure a starting player for a P5 program gets vs a starting player for the Redbirds so vast it’s not even calculable.
100% the right move for Reeves.

Speaking of Reeves won’t be here next year. Pro or transfer to a place like Wisconsin. He’s as good as gone.

Really going out on the limb there! Guessing there might be over 300 schools out there that will be interested in Reeves if his name shows up on the Transfer Portal.
I’m not saying they’ll be interested if he goes into the portal, I’m telling you that I have heard there’s already been conversations. Take it as you will. You probably think he’s coming back to isu though?

I have no idea if he’s coming back. Do I hope he comes back, Yes! Are there a lot of schools out there that will be (and probably already talking about) interested in Antonio, Yes! I will let the season play out and see what happens after the MVC Tournament.

I’m just curious- what would you do if you were Antonio? Does your stock go up more staying here…assuming Dan is here next fall? Or do you take a chance and go to let’s say Purdue and maybe be a role player off the bench. Maybe you only get 20 minutes a game- but you get a big chance on the big stage. Tough scenario for these kids.

Damn! 0-10 vs Valpo would of ended this dumpster fire once and for all. BTW, to all of you that said that Valpo would be a doormat for the Redbirds and scoffed at me when I stated that Valpo would be ok in the mvc. I was right. Valpo used ISU as a doormat.

In 2006 I was working at Mitsubishi. I was #30 in the plant in Seniority. I had 18 1/2 years there. I worked in quality Assurance. In September Mitsubishi was offering another round of buyouts. There was really no reason for me to put in for the buyout, but something inside was telling me to submit paperwork to apply. I knew that with my seniority I would be guaranteed to get it. I had no job lined up or any prospects. I was going to have to pay for my insurance out of my own pocket. All the reasons to stay and nothing waiting for me if I left. So I’ll tell you what I did; I prayed, and I prayed, and then I prayed some more. On my last day I either walked out the gate @ 3:00 for the last time or submit a letter upstairs informing them that I was removing my name from the Volunteer Separation Package. I can honestly tell you that @ 2:45 I still had no idea if I was taking a letter upstairs (I had already written it just in case) or walking out the gate for the last time. I kept praying and asking God to direct me. Well at 3:00 I walked through the gate for the last time.
I had no plan, but God did.
I ended up getting on with the State, getting married, and in 2017 retired from my Accounting position with the State. If I had not taken the buyout I would have eventually been out of a job a few years later when the plant closed. I talked with a couple of my co-workers a few weeks after I left Mitsubishi. One told me that there was a pool in the repair area at the plant as to whether or not I would actually go through with the buyout. Most thought I would be stupid to do it. Another co-worker told me that at the morning meeting the day after I left everyone was wondering where I was. None of them thought I would actually go through with it. So (I would say “to make a long story short”, but it’s too late for that) I guess what I would do if I were Antonio is to pray and ask for God to show me what His Will is for me, and not just do what everyone else thinks I should do. As for me, I would love to see Antonio in a Redbird uniform for the 2022-23 season!
Maybe Antonio likes the coaching staff; maybe Antonio likes his teammates. Maybe Antonio doesn’t care what people on this board thinks about what he should do. For now I will just keep drinking the kool-aid and cheering on Antonio and the rest of the Redbird basketball team. “Go You Redbirds”
