The EU - ISU Blue stats - EU was 24-48 and 11-14 on FTs - two of the three misses must of been the first of two, thus no rebound. As of ISU Blue - they were 22-47 and 12-13 on FTs - which would mean the one miss was on the first of two shots. Both teams were credited with 25 defensive rebounds each. One other odd stat - ISU Blue was 0-17 on 3's - let's see what happens tomorrow.

In 2006 I was working at Mitsubishi. I was #30 in the plant in Seniority. I had 18 1/2 years there. I worked in quality Assurance. In September Mitsubishi was offering another round of buyouts. There was really no reason for me to put in for the buyout, but something inside was telling me to submit paperwork to apply. I knew that with my seniority I would be guaranteed to get it. I had no job lined up or any prospects. I was going to have to pay for my insurance out of my own pocket. All the reasons to stay and nothing waiting for me if I left. So I’ll tell you what I did; I prayed, and I prayed, and then I prayed some more. On my last day I either walked out the gate @ 3:00 for the last time or submit a letter upstairs informing them that I was removing my name from the Volunteer Separation Package. I can honestly tell you that @ 2:45 I still had no idea if I was taking a letter upstairs (I had already written it just in case) or walking out the gate for the last time. I kept praying and asking God to direct me. Well at 3:00 I walked through the gate for the last time.
I had no plan, but God did.
I ended up getting on with the State, getting married, and in 2017 retired from my Accounting position with the State. If I had not taken the buyout I would have eventually been out of a job a few years later when the plant closed. I talked with a couple of my co-workers a few weeks after I left Mitsubishi. One told me that there was a pool in the repair area at the plant as to whether or not I would actually go through with the buyout. Most thought I would be stupid to do it. Another co-worker told me that at the morning meeting the day after I left everyone was wondering where I was. None of them thought I would actually go through with it. So (I would say “to make a long story short”, but it’s too late for that) I guess what I would do if I were Antonio is to pray and ask for God to show me what His Will is for me, and not just do what everyone else thinks I should do. As for me, I would love to see Antonio in a Redbird uniform for the 2022-23 season!
Maybe Antonio likes the coaching staff; maybe Antonio likes his teammates. Maybe Antonio doesn’t care what people on this board thinks about what he should do. For now I will just keep drinking the kool-aid and cheering on Antonio and the rest of the Redbird basketball team. “Go You Redbirds”
While this is a very heartwarming story (I’m glad you made the right decision), I’m not really seeing the connection to Reeves situation.

Reeves is currently making $0 unless he has some crazy NIL deals in unaware of. He has made it clear he has NBA aspirations where he could potentially make millions if he succeeds. The common sense question is: what does Antonio need to do to reach his goals? I am more the confident that the NBA feedback he will get is going to suggest he needs to play higher levels of competition on a nightly basis. He has nothing left to accomplish at ISU to help him reach his goals. This is just like DJ horne last year, everyone had this idea that he loved Dan, ISU and would never leave.. pretty unrealistic outlook.

But we can hope he returns . . . nothing wrong with that.

They were somehow able to find Ja Morant (now NBA all-star) from a school called Murray State.
Very true, however that is a very extreme use case. Does anyone have stats on nba draft picks and conference affiliations? I would have to think 75%+ of college draft picks are coming from P5. Ja also played in a program that consistently finds itself in the NCAA tournament.

Murray was also a top 25 team, won a tournament game that year, and had some really good seasons before that. Murray is on the college basketball radar. ISU is not on anyone's radar. That being said, would Ja have been discovered at ISU? Maybe. Will Reeves play in the NBA? Watch a few NBA games today. While I know folks aren't fond of the style of play in the NBA because it's not like the 1990s, I will say this, the skill level to play in the NBA is absolutely ridiculous. Watch some of the shots these guys are taking and making. It's crazy. I know, I know. They're not playing any defense! Watch the play off game where Jordan hit 6 3s in the first half against the Blazers. Talk about no defense! LaVine would love to have that kind of space! Anyway, Reeves has a LONG way to go before he can step on a NBA floor. Go Birds!

I think most college players that transfer to a bigger conference do it to get more recognition or to play for a better coach or program. Nic Moore and McIntosh got more TV time and publicity after transferring for sure. I don't think it helped their chances to get to the NBA as much as people think. NBA scouts are too good now. (We actually might be saying the same thing.)

Ja would have 100% been discovered at ISU, as long as he was out on the court. I agree with your NBA analysis. The long range shooting is better than it ever has been. It is insane. Plus many of those shooters have such a quick step to the basket, they are almost impossible to guard.

NBA-caliber talent will be found wherever they are playing (if they can be located off this continent, they certainly can be spotted in a Normal, Illinois).

The bigger issues are postseason dancing and NIL revenue.

At least half of the teams in a P5+BE conference go to the NCAA, probably goes up to 2/3 when you add in the NIT. Young men sometimes have to decide between playing time (may be more plentiful at a lower level) versus Big Dancing opportunities (may not get-in as much but they are still playing come mid-March).

Not to mention the now legality of the "thousand dollar(s) handshake(s)".

There will be 24 players playing in the all-star. Here is where they are from, assuming I did this correctly. I am not saying this is a representation of the entire NBA, but thought it would be fun to look at.
3- International Players- Giannis,Doncic, Jokic
2- No college-James, Ball
0- Big Ten
1- Big East- Butler (Marquette)
3- ACC-Mitchell(Louisville), Paul(Wake Forest),Tatum(Duke)
3-SEC- Garland(LSU), Booker(Kentucky), Towns(Kentucky)
4- Big 12- Durant(Texas), Embiid(Kansas), Wiggins(Kansas), Middleton(Texas A%M)
4- Pac 12- DeRozan(USC), Harden (Arizona State), LaVine(UCLA), Murray (Washington)
4- Mid majors- Curry(Davidson), Van Vleet(Wichita), Morant(Murray State), Gobert(Marist)

Did Ja Morant go to the NCAA Tournament? It’s a little easier to be found when you are playing on the big stage. I’m sure most of the kids you posted above danced. Reeves ha 0 chance to dance with dumb Dan.

If you are saying Reeves needs to find a better coach and program for better development, I can't disagree with you.

Murray State had a losing record the year before Morant went there. They made the NCAA tournament the 2 years he played there because he was good enough to lead the team to that level. The rest of the country got to see how good he was, but the NBA scouts already knew.

I would love to see Reeves play for a good coach. I think this team could be successful with the right leader.

I agree 100%. How fun would it be to keep Reeves and the core of the players intact for next year........with a new good leader in charge.
And add a juco big so we could move Chatman to a 4. Pipe Dream I’m sure.
