It Looks like Gassman is a non-scholarship player next year. All 13 slots are filled now.

Well, hopefully he gets it back for his last two years. Can't say I was surprised by this...

Weird that VC didn't include a link with their report. They usually do.

SO ISU will have, what, 17 players between scholarship, walk on, redshirt and transfer players sitting on the bench? How many rows of seats do players get?

Hopefully, he doesn’t. Hopefully, Muller keeps recruiting over his current roster. Don’t get the mindset on here that craves mediocrity. Unless you are paying the freight, why do you give a flip if he’s on scholarship? Wouldn’t you rather ISU have a better MBB team instead?

Taking a step back and looking at things...

Last season...if only we were healthier...but dealing with reality...you just cannot state that all the playing time that the whole roster received, we had a collection of very lucky Redbirds...getting a chance to play Div1 ball walking on the team.

With Gassman…(forgive me I cannot keep up with the specifics) but I would have an issue (personally) if I had a scholarship one year...then not the next...but that is an old fart looking at the financial situation and wondering if I just got screwed.

Gassman...is probably more like...you mean I am playing on Doug Collins Court...….YES!!! You mean I am getting a lot of playing minutes.....YES!!! You mean....I am on the bench supporting these great guys and WE ARE GOING TO BE CHAMPIONS....YES!!!

How many years did it take Coach Muller to get to this 2018-19 season? I am still in shock that next season seems to have some continuity from last season. Of course being the old fart once again...I will believe it when the first WIN occurs.

I would assume Gassman is happy he got a scholarship for a year which is probably one more than he had anticipated when he came to ISU. We have 5 walk-ons this year. If I had to guess, one may get a scholarship next year

Two scholarships open for next season (if you look at Matrix only one but he hasn't taken off Romine yet). One might go to Chastain next season. The other I assume is for Payton :) If not Payton I would guess one of those scholarships goes to a 6'9"+ guy. If Payton or somebody good decides to come Chastain might be out of luck. I'm sure he's getting some sort of aide.

I see 4 open spots next year as of now, Keyshawn,Tinsley, Milik and Phil.
so much can change in a year, lets hope we make the NCAA Touney and
enjoy the season.

Only 3 scholarships available according to the Matrix (originally said 2 but Matrix still has Gassman as scholarship next season)

1. Copeland
2. Jefferson
3. Hillsman
4. Hein (he gets his back per Dan)
5. Bruninga
6. Idowu
7. Boyd
8. Ndiyae
9. Fisher
10. Clarence
11. (My guess is Chastain)
12. (My guess is Payton. I believe he re-commits)
13. (My guess is a JUCO big man)
WO. Donnelly
WO. Litwiller
WO. Chastain (probably gets one of the open scholarships)

I hope Chastain plays well enough to earn a scholarship and Payton re-commits.
If we win a game or two in the tourney that could open up recruiting process for other players DM couldn't get in the past. Is Hein on pace to
graduate next year?

1. I forgot a fourth walk on for next year -- Gassman.
2. I'm sure Hein will graduate but I don't envision him going anywhere. This is simply where he wants to be. He comes from a rich family and is dating the daughter of a politician positioning himself for the future. Plus, he may coach and what better coach to learn under? If he transfers he's going to a worse conference/coach not a better one.

He might even be living at home in Leroy. It's not that far of a commute..

So as I said in the other thread we don't know that Gassman is or isn't a WO past this season. Scholarships are one year deals so until someone shows me something official that says other wise, I'm going to assume he is like Hein and this is a one year thing.

As far as we don't pay for the freight, sure we do. A lot of people donate and buy tickets. That goes to the WSF.
