Way to go, Matt and Hein family. Love it.

I still think the kid will get plenty of PT. He is probably still on the depth chart ahead of Clarence. I suspect he will see the floor more than any "walk on" in the Valley this year.

More than Chastain? Bold prediction.

Agreed. With Copeland and Jefferson in the mix, I don’t see Matt seeing the floor unless it’s garbage time.

Yet another example of the seemingly strong relationships Muller is building. Also a credit to Hein and his family. Once people really feel like they have this type of equity in the program is when it can start to take off and the brand can build. Great to see.

Copeland and Jefferson arent point guards, are they?

Also, has Chastain news been announced somewhere I didn't see? Officially, he's a scholarship player, no?

Lol. Matt Hein isn’t a point guard either. Jefferson will handle the ball before Hein.

When was Chastain ever on scholarship?

Scholarship matrix still has us +2. It is safe to take Christian and Luke off the roster completely... and move Gassman to WO. Gassman, Chastain, and Hein will all be paying their own way in 2018-2019.

As for Matt, I am glad he is sticking around but let’s not be naive to think he wasn’t asked to give up his scholarship. He did not come to them and offer, he was asked to give it up.

For sure, but Muller probably said he would get one next year, therefore giving him four years of scholarship. That would be my guess.

I would believe what the coach said. There's really no reason to lie. Kids talk. Lie's get out.

And how would Dan telling the full truth in this scenario benefit him or the program?? Come on now. I don’t have any issue celebrating the situation, but let’s not be naive. He was asked or encouraged to give up his scholarship and he agreed. I am glad Matt decided to stay, he has represented ISU basketball to the highest standard from Day 1. I respect his decision.

Why speculate something in a negative light that you may or may not have insight on?

Be happy today.

Thanks Matt. Luv Ya Baby!!! Glad you're here

100%.

Doesn't make sense to rag on a kid for busting his ass all the time and being a good student athlete. I am glad someone like Matt will be a fellow alum. He does his best and i'm certain he has the respect of his teammates and coaches.

I thought you knew. People on this board have "inside" information because they think they're cool. Meaning, a lot of children on this board.

Romine is no longer on the roster on goredbirds.com (not sure if anyone else pointed this out yet) so definitely safe to say he will not be returning.

With him doing this, I think he may become one of the board's favorites next year - I know he will be one of mine. Now we don't have to set a high expectation - anything he does will benefit the team. Can't complain about that. What a selfless act - really says something about the character we all knew he had.
