Lost 4 starters , Clayton and 2 coaches. Injuries to David, EC, and academic casualty of Copeland and no Romine. Some Posters wonder why Gassman and Hein have played too many minutes. Last summer on paper many speculated that our starting line up would eventually include Copeland, EC, and Taylor redshirted. Dan can only play the bodies that have been available this year. EC obviously has a high ceiling, but Dan has to decide if it's going to arrive by Arch Madness. Of course his performance in practice or another guard injury could throw out the shorten rotation.

Hein had his chance. It’s time to see what Elijah Clarance can do with extended playing time. As Hawk Harrelson would say, “TURN HIM LOOSE”

These type of events aren’t unique to the Redbirds. That’s just college basketball. Departures, injuries, etc. All college fans have a sob story or list of excuses why they haven’t done better. It’s how teams respond to adversity that determines success. Or, how prepared they are to do so. This roster isn’t constructed to deal with the hand it’s been dealt, and still be successful. Some of these situations have created great opportunity, that our guys have been unable to exploit with great success. Hopefully, the minutes the end of our bench has been getting payoff somewhere down the road. There has been improvement, and at least they are past the point of shitting their pants if ever forced to play in a big time situation in the future.

Hope he gets his chance tonight. Went back and watched some film. It would be nice if EC could get minutes with top group. He’s played a lot of his minutes with the backup squad on the floor. Makes a big difference when you have MY, FY, and KE playing with you vs playing w the bottom group.

If by turn him loose you mean to let him transfer then I agree because they should be forced to get rid of anyone mentioned in the same sentence as hawk Harrelson who might be the most idiotic guy on the planet.

Completely agree.

Anyone one who has not played at a D1 level or higher is now banned from any participation on this fan board...unless they promise to blow sunshine and rainbows.
Or maybe not call our players trash.

Today in 1982, Sandberg became a Cub.

I have wondered if EC's rise and entry onto the Redbird court has produce friction from MY's playing time and ball control.

Hearing that the bench was showing strength and teamwork during the last half of the UNI game gives me hope that team chemistry may be improving slowly. But to really believe this I want a run on victories asap.

If Clarance doesn’t play, you can bet there’s someone in his hear telling him to transfer.

Someone in the entourage saying, “You’re a 3 star prospect not playing over walk-on quality players at ISU?”

Not saying NO ONE would take him, but it’s not like P5 schools are going I come beating down his door after seeing his game film of this year. His transfer would have to be lateral or down IMO. I don’t think he’s going anywhere...

"In a lot of ways we were playing better basketball before we got healthy," said Muller, whose team has dropped to 10-11 overall and 4-5 in the Valley. "I don't think necessarily it is the guys we are playing compared to the guys who weren't playing (when hurt)."

Eek! Hmmn...

One of my biggest ongoing knocks on HCDM

Some teams you can get away with it, to an extent. Apparently not these guys. Hanging heads is more disappointing to me. But 42-0 run between two games. That's startling. Literally. Everybody is in on that one, starting with DanRedbird.

Hopefully we don't have to deal with any more situations like that...

It’s not just calling the timeout, it’s drawing up a play to score after the timeout to break the momentum.

We are necessarily good at that.

Based on how they’re sitting on the bench, looks like Bruninga is the 9th man.

Doesn’t look like he cut the rotation much. Played 9 with only bruniga out.

Seemed like Gassman was an add-on when Valpo went zone.

Still love Bruning’s upside, but just not getting it done lately in games. Maybe hitting that freshmen wall.
