Good to go for 18-19 or need more pieces?

The good news is that very often seniors play better and contribute more than they did as juniors. More good news is we will have some new, very promising players joining these seniors.

We won't be the same team next year.

Good to see Muller shaking up the roster vs sitting idle and going with returning players for 18-19. Still much in need of a big that is going to contribute next year unless Rey Idowu or one of the other freshman is that player?

Beyond that Muller desperately needed roster movement now for the sake of the 19-20 season as it looked like ISU was heading fast to the basement of the MVC if no changes were made. Currently we have no one returning for the 19-20 season that has played in a redbird uni that is anyway near ready to lead or be a centerpiece of the team. Let’s hope all of these new guys that have promise indeed are players as we will need at least 2 or 3 of them to be the center of the team for 19-20.

Rey IS the only freshman right now. Unless we sign N'Diaye, he will likely BE the only freshman. My guess is if we don't land N'Diaye, we go after the best available juco big man.

Good points about setting the team up for the 19-20 team. The guards (on paper) appear to be stout with Copeland, Jefferson, Clarance, Hillsman, and Boyd. The wing position should be in okay shape with Chastain holding a lot of minutes there (Hillsman at 6'6 could play some wing as well). That season, Taylor Bruninga should be ready to be an every game starter, probably plus 25-30 pounds, and be at the stretch 4 position.

As excited as I am for Redbird football to return.... I wish it was November so we can get some Redbird Basketball going!

I'm sold on our PGs and incoming guards--and most certainly with MY and PF. I do think this team needs a physical presence down low that alter drive patterns and rebound. I'm hoping Chief Rey is the answer.

I look forward to the progress guys like EC and TB will make. (I'm sold on Dan's ability to develop players over time.)

Us and Loyola are the two clear favorites, but our experience and athleticism leads me to believe that we should come out on top.

And for the record, I don't JUST want to win the Arch, I want sole possession of the Valley regular season title.

Lots of talent in the locker room right now. It will be interesting how the scholarships fall but it looks as if Dan is building a team that won't be shorthanded like last year's team was.

Muller would not say how the Redbirds plan to get to the limit, but added "it 100 percent jives." In fact, Muller and his staff are still recruiting and "would like to get a guy with size."

From the pantagraph article about Jaycee

So, Muller is basically being the Joker from The Dark Knight, "It's all apart of the plan."

Sure seems that way. I wonder if he had some sold guys on paying their own way so they can have a special year.

Abdou is huge but I think he's behind Rey for next season. Dude is 200 pounds on a 6'10 frame.

1. Hein is not listed. Thank God. 2. It's scary when Bruninga is 8-10

I would like to submit a change to my original answer:

We are now GOOD TO GO! Can we fast forward to the non-confernece schedule though. The period between college basketball and football is torture for us non-baseball guys.

Now that we got the roster set let's be smart in the schedule. Let's get a winnable opening game to start putting the pieces together.

St. Xavier is probably looking for a game.

We have depth for sure. But our first two off the bench definitely won't be forwards, let alone freshman.

I hate seeing Taylor and Elijah down there. I think Elijah has a great summer of development and comes off the bench first.

I could see Taylor as a PWO- RS potentially (frees up a scholarship). He showed amazing promise as a freshman last year, the concussion just messed him up.

I look forward to the next few weeks. Finals are next week so we should know something right around mothers day.

Madison as the 12th? Deepest team we have had in awhile.
