Hey, thanks for the spelling lesson, too DD, er ISU FAN !!!!! A double bonus for me today. A lesson on how I am supposed to think about our program, AND spelling! You are certainly amazing. When are you going to start to brag about you post count! I miss the sparkly graphic! BTW, my "show" fits just fine :)

Now I remember why I chose to block your posts on the old board. I will go back to that. Have a good day, all knowing one.

The no big deal attitude about this from some on here reminds me that some ISU fans aren't that interested in a winning program. To them, ISU basketball is just something to kill their life clock until it's time to lay down and get comfortable. To each their own, I suppose, in defining their fandom. IMO, the no big deal attitude translates to the shitty atmosphere in our arena. Again, more excitement in the high school gyms Payton has been playing in. I can see why there's an attract and retain problem at ISU.

You would be the perfect Duke fan.

This would have been worse if he decommitted next October. At least we can look for another player. We're not going to win out on many 4-star players. We have to find people like Phil Fayne...somebody who hadn't played a lot of basketball so was passed over by the biggies, you know find an unpolished gem that we can make shine.
Think how much fun Chris would have passed on if he stayed solid with us. Heck, maybe UCLA will want him to come out and visit. You can't expect him to pass on that. Maybe Louisville calls and has some young ladies for him ... oh wait, those days are over, thank god!

How specifically did they chase him away? From my perspective, he watched a team on the come last year, that has quickly collapsed with defections, and the trademark Redbird bad luck. The Big 3 will be gone by Payton's freshmen year, if not earlier. Guess he isn't interested in being the man. Or maybe, just doesn't see great opportunity for team success based on what will be left, which I tend to agree with at this point. I feel bad for Muller. At least as bad as I can for someone making a lot of money to coach basketball at his alma mater. And working for an AD that presents no apparent impediment to future employment. But, this program isn't moving in a real positive direction right now. The only outcome I see is continued mediocrity in an increasingly weaker conference. Would love to see Muller move on for the right reason, meaning he takes ISU dancing. But going from 17-1 to bottom feeder in this shit-bag league is pretty sobering.

You asked the question....and then you answered it with your post.

Are you honestly surprised by this? This fan base has had the Illinois State inferiority complex pounded into its heads for decades. Why else would athletic dept administration after athletic dept administration be allowed to just go through the motions, make no significant changes, conduct business in the same old way..... AND NOT GET CALLED OUT FOR IT. There is a significant percentage of people that call themselves fans that don't believe athletes like Chris Payton should ever suit up for the lowly Redbird program. I never attended Illinois State, I grew up in Illinois, so Illinois State was my state school..... I only wish Illinois State students, alumni and fans could understand the incredible potential of this university/athletic dept.

From the looks of the picture you would have thought we qualified for the NCAA Tournament.

Oh.... Soooo very sorry ISU FAN #1. This is clearly the end of the world for our sorry ass program. The end is near. For ISU, for the Valley, and everything we hold dear. Thanks for telling us how we are always supposed to act about everything affecting our program -- the Debble Downer way.

For the record, I never express an opinion on Peyton one way or the another. But I will humbly apologize for the board for not responding the way you think we should.

I said some. If the show fits, wear it. Since you don't even know how to spell Payton's name, I'm guessing it fits quite nicely.
I just got done saying to keep personal attacks away. Knock it off.

Strongly considering Duke now that I have de-committed. Their incoming freshmen class (top 3 ESPN) looks too good to pass up.

Paris also went home and was ready to quit his junior year at break. Looks can be deceiving.

What is this "NCAA tournament" you speak of?

The reward for not going home was more wins in a season than any ISU team ever, Valley Championship and POY...and one of ISU's all-time fave point guards and perhaps even fave all-time players.

I would actually like to know what Redbird Recon, CPacmel, Bird Friend, Hulka think about this. Is this a devastating blow for ISU or just another day in college basketball?

What is the sentiment from the insiders about the impact of this de-commit? Does it impact the current team? Coaching staff? Does it impact other recruits? Does it impact our prospects for landing other players we were after for 2018 or 2019?

Devastating? No. We've got time to find his replacement. Had this been in the summer after he graduated and he had achieved a consensus 4-star status? Then I'd be more upset.

Frankly, I was surprised he committed so early, especially since Yak--who was probably his primary recruiter--had left.

Pretty sure I remember Muller (and others) saying he hated playing for Stallings.

Why would anyone go to a school that goes 17-1 in conference and can’t dance?

If you are good enough to play D1, you want to have a chance to play in the NCAA Tournament. Otherwise, as a competitor, what’s the incentive? I can understand it if you went to Missouri State and had a chance at the Sugar Bears.

So you’re saying there’s a chance?

Tired of it!

Spread it!
