I know strength of schedule was huge in the 90's. I'm not as convinced as most people how much stepping up the schedule helps the chances of us getting in the tournament. What if we actually had an easier schedule that year and we were 30 and 3 or even 31 and 2? would the NCAA have still let us out?

I’m excited about watching the Redbirds play BYU, Ole Miss, and San Diego State @ Redbird in the next two weeks as opposed to what Jank would have had there.

We won...that was positive! I have higher expectations of this program than many! When we start playing like a top 68 team I will get excited!

Just because you run your mouth louder on the internet, it doesnt make your expectations any higher.

You run your mouth loud to he just has a different opinion. Now its louder if it differs? That's just a disagreement.

Please offer some examples of me running my mouth that bolster your opinion that I have lower expectations. Thank you in advance

I would think It helps in a few ways

1. Fan interest .... would you rather watch Florida Gulf Coast, San Diego St, BYU, Ole Miss, and perhaps a buy game every other year such as Kentucky, Louisville or TCU or what was being scheduled previously. I know for a while we were hosting a tournament with the likes of Winston Salem vs. Attending a tournament against quality teams. Based on the reaction of the board for games like Chicago St etc... I am pretty sure most fans would like to see some quality opponents on the schedule.
2. National Recruiting ... scheduling games against quality opponents or games closer to the players home .... Central Florida, Florida Gulf Coast etc....
3. Quality wins still improves the resume even is the probabilty is lower. Unfortunately the year we a #1 seed in NIT, our nonconferenve schedule was marginal. The opponents had a down year.
4. Better chance of program exposure ... games against quality opponents get better social media coverage and sometimes even TV (ESPNU or 2 game vs. ESPN3).

Nice to see us hold on for the victory today. Rey is already coming along. MY looked great today and like he is starting to listen to Coach. Had some nice assists. Nice to see Key hit some shots. Hopefully he can pull out of his funk and help this team. For the most part, the game was really enjoyable to watch. I think the last two games have given us something to build on.

Rey's improvement will probably be the key to our team this year. He just needs to be a force on the defensive boards and score some garbage points. We have plenty of talent to do the other things. I'm looking forward to seeing how he's performing at season end.

Thanks guys for your support, but I probably had that coming. Gobirds72 doesn't know me well enough that my posts are usually tongue in cheek or just to get a reaction because I have nothing better to do.

He's also right about me not attending games in person anymore, but I do pay for ESPN+ so I can watch as many as possible.

I will try to be more considerate from now on. I know a fault of mine has always been rubbing people the wrong way.

Unfortunately, the way that happens is if we can put together a run! I wonder what Wichita States attendance is this season...in a down year?

It is ok to have high expectations
It is ok to be disappointed in our play and recognizing it should be better.
It's good to be passionate about the birds ... I would rather that than complacent fans who don't care
There are ebbs and flows to a season ... whether we like it or not.
As fans we all tend to migrate towards the extremes.
As ISU says State your Passion but we all can be a little more tolerant of each other's views

I did connect with gobirds72 and it turns out I already knew him. He was the power forward on the team when Doug Collins and I played on the Redbirds back in the early 70's. Back in those days his height of 6-2 was big for a forward, but his leap was over 26 inches.

His senior year he got caught dating 3 cheerleaders at the same time and ended up marrying the best looking one. I also remember helping him get thru a tough Art Appreciation class to keep him eligible for our big game with North Carolina that season.

While we were talking he admitted he owed me $3,500 he borrowed from me back in 1971 and I received the check today.

Turns out he's a good guy :clap:
