You can blame it on the kids all you want. If Dan recruits the players...he has to balance it out. He can’t lose his problem kids and his high school kids too. He also can’t miss on the kids talents or has to know how to develop. That’s why we are here. He takes risk!
I mean sometimes a guys attitude and off the court stuff can just kill a locker room. It’d be foolish to say Lofton’s body language and Milik’s off the court problems didn’t negatively affect things.

Apathy. All my troubles seem so far away. Now I don't care when the Redbirds play. Oh, I've embraced, apathy.

I live in chapel hill, nc, just a few blocks from campus. My wife has several degrees from UNC. We met while I was working there. Ive made friends with some of the former players, one good friend. Over the years i’ve kept my loyalty to both programs. I found little reasons to be proud of my scrappy Redbirds. These days all ISU does for me is make me feel less sad about Roy Williams retiring, this is rock bottom.
Thoughts and Prayers RB 🤔🙏

Options to play closer to home and maybe warmer weather....the portal has a lot of competition for fewer spots because of the Covid extra year

Yeah they do. I guess your friends didn't donate as much as they claimed.
Well, I guarantee they donate more than most and for longer. Considering they lost 50 percent of their donors and were sitting around on their hands during a pandemic, I would think you would be making sure everyone gets their donations in.

Granted, they probably didn’t want to hear that people aren’t donating due to the decline on basketball. Easier to just make excuses and blame it on Covid. Also, if they are really calling donors based on how much they donate that’s a losing strategy to ever grow your nearly dead donor base.

Spoke with former @Redbird_MBB guard @djhorne0 last night about his transfer from ISU ⬇️

"Felt like it was the right move for me and my basketball future. Also just want to surround myself with a group of guys who are going to push me to be better everyday."
DJ elaborated on Coach Muller's influence and role in all of this:

"To my understanding we ended on good terms. He listened to what i had to say and that was it. As far as influence I wouldn’t say he had anything to do with my decision."

"It was more so recruiting wasn’t looking good and there were too many other opportunities knocking at the door for me to pass up."

"It was definitely a tough decision but I think it was for the best."

#0 was truly a joy to watch at ISU. Best of luck in wherever you end up DJ!

As I have heard from several past players, the "culture" that Dan Muller has created is toxic. And wow DJ.... you might as well come out and say your teammates suck and are less holy than you! Props for telling the truth but oh my!!

In no particular order, it all came down to wanting to win because "recruiting wasn't looking good" and he determined they would not improve competitively to what he wanted and being allured for the proverbial bigger, better deal because of the "opportunities knocking at the door." I am sure he will choose an opportunity where he can get similar minutes that he would have gotten at ISU.

DM was the first to push hard for DJ and was rewarded for that effort and then discarded for not improving the team with better personnel. In the past DM has gotten good recruits so not sure what the downturn in recruiting has stemmed from but now he needs to pull some rabbits out of the hat. I wonder if Mr. Underwood will reach out to him -- there's over a thousand in the transfer portal so lots of people looking for better opportunities because their current situations were beyond repairable and they just couldn't bear it any longer.

For some of these kids in the transfer portal, there is a bit of ego involved for desiring to go from being yelled at and instructed by the coaching staff to now having coaches fawning all over them again in the re-recruiting of these players. Of course, that will be short-lived because the recruiting side of a coach will then become the standard business side of the coach who is going to ride their back sides once they sign on the dotted line. Someone said that the basketball quality will not be very good next year for the first couple of months and on into the tournament because so many teams will have too many new faces and a lack of team chemistry and an unfamiliarity with the team's offensive and defensive systems. I have to admit that this is the most oddest and interesting couple of years I can recall in college sports.

Sounds like he is saying Reeves, Fleming, and Washington aren’t good enough to push him. Sounds like there may have been a little tension between DJ, and one or more of those three. Would love to see a matchup between the Birds and whoever DJ is playing for next season.
