I live in chapel hill, nc, just a few blocks from campus. My wife has several degrees from UNC. We met while I was working there. Ive made friends with some of the former players, one good friend. Over the years i’ve kept my loyalty to both programs. I found little reasons to be proud of my scrappy Redbirds. These days all ISU does for me is make me feel less sad about Roy Williams retiring, this is rock bottom.

Those that thought losing all world talent like Matt Chastain and Keith Fisher was a crushing blow to our championship dreams must be beside themselves.

Horne is the type of guy ISU used to be able to replace in the blink of an eye. He’s going to go to a Power 5 school and average 8 ppg because he won’t play as much (then probably transfer again). It isn’t so much losing him that’s the problem, it’s the fact every guy we lose we bring in someone worse. I fear what awful players Dan is looking at.

I landed in Houston earlier today from a client meeting and my phone was absolutely blowing up with texts and voicemails from family, friends and ISU message board folk. I guess in the end eventually all roads lead back to the truth. I had posted about this happening several weeks ago and (1 poster in particular) that absolutely ripped the information I was sharing with my fellow ISU friends a new one. I'd really like to see how this is spun by many of the "trust the process" redbird fans on this forum. I hate the transfer portal just as much as the rest of you probably do right now but can you blame Horne? He's probably looking at the roster for next year and thinking.... wow I am the new greg dilligard (good player on some bad teams). As I did a a few weeks back I wish DJ nothing but the best. You will be missed my man!!

There was a time this would have bothered me. Not so much anymore. Indifference set in a couple years ago and I see nothing on the horizon that is going to change it.
I get this.
For me, it’s more like an LA car chase. It’s awful, but I can’t stop looking...

The transfer portal will decimate mid major leaving the power 5 to pick and choose from the minor league mid-majors.

This is a sad day for ISU basketball. DJ is a special player. I hope he reconsiders like Carter from UNI did.

This prolly increased the chances of Reeves returning though. There will be plenty of shots for him.
Seems like we are recruiting the wrong type of players if that is someone’s reason for coming back to a 7 win team that just lost its best player.

Maybe, or he will think finishing 10th place is no fun, and try to find a school where he can play, plus find a couple W's along the way. I wouldnt be surprised if Reeves pulls out of the draft and announces hes going elsewhere.

Has anyone seen comments from Dan yet?? Underwood made comments on Adam Miller supporting his decision today. I expected Dan would do the same, or perhaps he's in his basement with the kleenex hitting refresh on the transfer portal all day. The fact he didnt publicly support Reeves makes me think he's a goner.

Who cares? We finished 10th with these guys. It’s not like it matters who comes back at this point.

Perhaps Dan shares this view and has decided it's not worth putting in the effort and would rather track his direct deposits every 2 weeks.

He must be on vacation. Randy just posted a bare bones article about it.

Just thinking the same thing. All this lamenting the loss of players leading ISU to last place in a shitbag league. Fading my Redbird basketball interest has been a fantastic decision. It’s up to ISU to win me back by showing me something has materially changed. Until then, ISU MBB is just a waste of time. ISU is CHOOSING to keep their millions, instead of buying out Muller. I’m choosing to keep my millions, rather than pour any down this rat hole.

How is it that ISU has an offensive Associate Coach and, yet, has no offense? Passing the ball around the perimeter until 3 is launched is not an offense. That kind of offense is like popping corn with no lid. And... when the ball does go inside it is more often than not a bounce pass to the feet of the big who is double teamed.
