Well... this means absolutely nothing butttttt we kicked their ass if you take out the first 5 min of us pressing hard as can be. Once comfortable, we took over

The final score is a lot closer than I was expecting. They played pretty well!

Our offensive rebounding is still horrible and we foul way too much. It seems like there's no effort to address either.

Best that Washington looked this year. Playing the game with only 2 guards was brutal. Hopefully, Fleming will clear COVID protocol by Sunday.

Freeman on crutches. Hopefully not a long term injury.

Down 20 early and Birds battled back essentially without two starters. They should gumption. The charge on Chatman was huge call. Crowl arn barred him prior to the call. He should have drawn his 5th and Chatman should be shooting free throws. Instead it is a turnover and we lose Chatman.

That being said... super slow start and defensive rebounding cost us the game. We took care of of ball after the first eight minutes and we were very efficient offensively against one of the best defensive reams in the nation. If we can solve the defensive rebounding woes, we can compete in MVC

Muller mentioned in the in the pregame that Big 10 refs are a different breed. I’m not a ref blamer for things because ultimately, there’s always something your team can do better to not allow them to have an impact. Wisconsin made 25 free throws, which is more than the Birds shot. Reminds me a bit of @ Kentucky a few years ago. I believe UK shot 40+ and the Birds shot like 11.

The Birds were down 20 in the first half and 16 (or more?) in the second half. This was without their point guard, back up point guard, and crunch time without two of the best players.

Only 9 turnovers. Took care of the ball, showed a lot of fight. Imagine if they didn’t play absolutely terrible the first 5-7 minutes of each half.

The Birds also had a walk-in in the game at crucial moments and still lost by 4.

Encouraged by the game but as we know, they cannot afford to go lay an egg at Valpo. This certainly does not feel like a Thursday night team.

Definitely home cooking. Foul on Chatman a joke. But I guess you have to expect that. Whisky made more FTS than we shot. Hmmmm. Disappointed with the loss but certainly not the effort. Reeves did a helluva job at point guard too. Their star goes 6/23 to get his 20. Reeves 18 shots to get 23. We keep getting better

Credit to the team for keeping their heads up and a heck of a second half. Leaves some new & old questions- +should Reeves be at the point most of the time- he was able to again generate looks from the point, as he has on several occasions at the end of a couple of close games and it gives us more length by adding another swing( even bigger advantage in MVC?) and how many turnovers did we have in 2nd half? + We actually saw some off-ball screens tonight, creating looks for shooters, that needs to continue. + I thought that McChesney is finally figuring out that his role to rebound, set screens and his help defense is work in progress but his length helps bail him out some. + guys play lots of minutes tonight and I thought they held up well and I hope beginning now, they go to bench less during conference play, similar to tonight. -rebounding is still a big challenge, guys have to go to both offensive and defensive boards like Wisky does. Wish they would have won, but looking forward to Valley

Well, our tough non conference slate obviously paid off in preparing us for giving Wisconsin all they could handle

Freeman looks doubtful for the next game

2 second half turnovers with our primary 2 ball handlers out

We spotted them 20, gave up 421 offensive boards, got outshot from the line by 57, fouled out our best 2 guys, and we were within a bucket with a few ticks left on the clock and it was a game for the last 11 minutes.
