I thought coming into this game 3s and frees (FT) would be the difference. ISU made their 3s. Wow. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen an ISU shoot that well. ISU did a great job using their athleticism to get to the FT line and made their FT. 16-22 to be exact. Were I think ISU lost the game is rebounding and fouling. We gave up 17 offensive rebounds and UW shot 32 FT.

As far as officiating, I thought it was poor both ways. Losing Reeves and Chatman at the end hurt, but UW could make the argument that when they were up 18 in the second half, UW was whistled for 5 touch fouls in a minute, putting ISU in the bonus for the last 15 minutes of the game. Wisely, ISU used that to their advantage. ISU did a great job on Brad Davison and Johnny Davison. They got beat inside by Crowl, Wahl, and Vogt.

No one likes moral victories, but ISU just put the valley on f***ing notice. Dan has a nice athletic team. It’s now or never Dan. Kudos to UW for having the balls to play us, as opposed to those pussies from Champaign.

Dan Muller coached his best game of his career today. I remember a gsme back in the KS days, when ISU stomped into UW Fieldhouus and won a quarterfinal NIT game. The officiating tonight was so BIG10 homer it's not even close. OUR 'Birds played ridiculously hard. Great effort.

All of you that question our coach. This is the epitome of his resume.

Ridiculous circumstances.

Poor early performance.

Increcredible effort with adjustment.

Bull$hit BIG10 croney reffing.

Dan's the Man
Tonight’s game doesn’t change anything for me. It’s NCAA Tournament or bust for Dan. We have the 337 SOS and went 7-6 in the Non Conf. Two of those wins are against non D1 opponents. Incredible game and yes, Dan coached a good game, but this is year 10, no?

What an ignorant reaction. You're basically saying, "Make a change for change's sake" almost like the baseball addage of "Can't fire the whole team so fire the manager."

Way to be "Glass half empty" in the wake of an incredible second-half coaching effort.

What? Almost winning one game doesn’t save his job. A loss is still a loss. Am I more encouraged at this point than I thought I’d be after the Jackson State loss? Yes. Has Dan done enough to save his job now? No. He’s got 2 months. If he wants to stick around it’s put under or shutup time.

I try not to be a "happy with the effort/we almost stole one" kind of guy, but that was a gutsy performance by all, especially with some key guys out and after the ice cold start. We were down 20 and getting assaulted in the paint and it looked like we'd lose by 68. Monster comeback and a really fun game to watch. But still, it's a L. Would've been a great win. However, something is starting to click since that nightmare Jackon St. game. These guys are playing hard and confident.

Sunday is huge. Very winnable game, but we all know Valley road games are never a given. Take the effort we had last night in Madison to Valpo and we can come out of there with a W. Things look encouraging right now, but with 4 of the next 6 on the road, it will tell us a lot.

I’m very encouraged by our play the last three games and I feel more optimistic about this team. They are not playing like a 10th place Valley team as predicted. if they place like this they can win the valley. But no one is going to convince me otherwise. If I’m the AD is NCAA Tournament or bust for Dan. If you disagree with this then be glad I‘m not the AD. And to be transparent, I. WANT. DAN. TO. WIN. I really do. But every other valley team had danced at least once since 98. He’s had 10 years. I’m getting impatient.

I don’t think it’s NCAA Tournament or bust. It’s avoid Thursday and continuously improve. If ISU finishes fifth and not due to tiebreakers and looks like a team trending upward then I’d be okay going another year.

No glass half full. Either you win or you lose. He lost. If Dan were coaching Wisconsin in this game and it almost looks like it- because they blew a 20 point lead. The difference is they found a way to win it. They didn’t lose like Dan did to Taco Fall with a 14 point lead at half, or to UNI with a 14 point lead at half, or to Wyoming with a big lead at half. Dan isn’t a good coach.

Really impressed and proud the way the guys fought last night. Kendall Lewis was a flat out DOG ON DEFENSE. I love the way he played and even Emon Washington who hasn't gotten much playing time this year. In a game like that, that builds depth and you need this year.

Hopefully Fleming is feeling alright and is back for Sunday at Valpo. He brings a whole new dimension to this team. His rebounding and another DOG like that on defense. I continue to say if this team continues to play with effort and the buy-in on defense is there they will surprise the Valley because in all my time watching ISU basketball this is the best offensive team we have seen in a while.

Maybe take the negative “fire Dan” BS energy and put it into the “Support the Redbird Student Athletes” that are giving everything they have on the court. Maybe they like Dan. Maybe they like playing for Dan. Maybe they think Dan is a good coach. Maybe they don’t want Dan fired. Maybe the player’s don’t give a crap about what you think.
I plan on being in Redbird Arena January 5th watching these Redbird players give it all against the Loyola Ramblers. They deserve the support from all Illinois State Redbird Nation. If you don’t want to be a part of that than that is your choice. Get your other “Fire Dan” groupies that love to continuously post your negative crap on here and go watch the Bradley game.

Well we made it 7 pages before it turned into a Fire Dan thread. Some of you guys are insufferable
Not really. It mostly came about by someone basically saying this saved Dan’s job. It didn’t and shouldn’t. It was a great performance but still an L. Let’s see how MVC play goes. Currently in first place and 1-0. Keep rolling and he can earn another year.

Why don't we let the entire season play out?
There is not going to be a mid-season fire. There are plenty of scenarios that will warrant a dismissal of Dan. There are scenarios that justify keeping him another year. In the meantime, I think most fans and critics would have to admit that they have seen improvement over the last eight games. They have some notable strengths and some glaring areas of opportunities. I am excited and intrigued for the MVC season based on the recent trend of games.

I'm with RedbirdSoxFan and will be in my seat against Loyola on Jan 5th cheering for a Redbird victory. We are even considering going to the Valpo game this Sunday. I am sure there will be disappointing games during conference and ones that make you smile. Hopefully more of the latter. Meanwhile sit back and watch a team that doesn't quit and shoots the ball very well. You might even enjoy it if you let yourself do so.

We can all put our AD caps on when the season ends.
