Sounds like Dan has a D2 or D3 team on the hook for Saturday. Meanwhile, Bradley is scheduling and preparing for a 3 Peat in St. Louis.
If you look at last night's Bradley schedule maybe you will notice the power 5 team they took on to prepare for Arch Madness in the name of Judson College.

BU = Toledo, Xavier, Oakland, Jackson State, South Dakota State, Miami (OH), and Missouri. St. Joe's(Cancelled)
ISU = Ohio State, Umass Lowell, Chicago State, and Ball State.
Who do you think is preparing better?

I don’t see a team better than Ohio State on Bradley’s schedule. Comparing noncon schedules in a year marred with Covid is ridiculous anyway.
But if we had a better overall schedule than BU, you can bet we would be chatting about it. We would be all over BU if they had our schedule. They have found a way to schedule more D1 games. BU figured it out, we didn't. Which schedule would you rather have? I hope I am wrong when March rolls around and when our weekend with BU happens. Maybe the AD transition is impacting the scheduling?

The issue is we have 4 Division 1 non conference games scheduled. The program we are chasing that is 40 miles away scheduled 8 (1 canceled). We should be ok with this? Evansville? 8 scheduled. SIU with a pause. 4 scheduled. Valpo? 6 scheduled. UNI? 7 scheduled. Drake? 7. The good news? They were just on SportsCenter for the records they broke tonight! Maybe that is part of the master recruiting plan!

It’s a crazy Covid season. Who knows what games we have tried to schedule? The preseason is in flux for everyone with games scheduled then canceled. I am pretty sure we would never have gotten Ohio state were it not for the above. So it is what it is. Frankly I don’t care what anyone else is doing. I believe Dan is trying to get the best games he can. And now you have finals coming up which will have an impact. Lastly I don’t like BU, never have liked them and don’t give a damn what they do except when they play us! 🤪🤪

Muller on why the Greenville game got scheduled. With finals week next week, if the team has to travel this weekend, he doesn't want it to be more than five hours or so. Per the quote below, he's been asking, and no one is returning their calls.
"They're one of the few teams in our state that is testing. You have to test three days a week in order to play Division I teams," said ISU head coach Dan Muller. "They sent an email out to us, and I'm sure to teams across the state, saying they're testing three days a week and will play anytime, anywhere. We reached out to them a week ago."

They want a D1 game this weekend but have a couple non-d1 options should that not happen. Either way, we should find out today because if you're playing a game on Saturday, you probably want to know at least a couple days before, regardless who it is. Honestly, after last night, I wouldn't mind a D2 game. That would allow the team to get back into the flow of playing half court sets on both ends while not diminishing their confidence headed into the off week (of games) with finals.

he said post game that they have reached out to every team within a 4-5 hour drive on scheduling this year. And yes, it is a cluster F with Covid. You could account what any team's schedule ends up being to skill, or luck of the draw on what games actually end up being played. Pretty sure badley's game against the NAIA team was a replacement for a decent game they had scheduled that was cancelled. I'm guessing every team has had to quickly alter plans after having to cancel a game and scrambled to find a replacement, and will likely continue doing so the rest of the season. At least we are playing. Southern is just now playing their opener.

D 1 Illinois school schedules this weekend (Non MVC):
Illini - Sat vs Tennessee Martin
WIU - Sun vs Central Michigan
EIU - Open
NIU - Sat vs Pitt
UIC - Sat vs Ball State
DePaul - Sun vs Iowa State (wrong ISU)
Northwestern - Sat vs Chicago St

I am sure I missed someone, but it looks like only EIU available this weekend

What's Bradley got going on on 12/4, 12/17, 12/19, and 12/22? Keep looking...
We get it, you do not like it.

You overlooked Loyola which (as of now) has no games ~ maybe they have just given up prepping for Arch Madness. Missouri State was not scheduled to leave Springfield at all and had two non-DIs coming in Ecclesia and Evangel (and they are now down to two games total). Indiana State, 5 (with one non-DI, Truman State).

Bradley is now up to two non-DIs (Greenville, Judson).

And there is also the timeframe between 12/17 - 22 where one/two games can be added.

Also, if you listened to the broadcast from Columbus, Dan said they were initially playing four games in Lincoln ... which, after all the various defections, was reduced to two (and at one point, there were only two teams participating in total); that was the empetus of switching MTEs.

There may also be fiscal and/or health considerations limiting what they would/not schedule in terms of cost/travel.
