Any word on additional non-conference scheduling?

We get it, you do not like it.

You overlooked Loyola which (as of now) has no games ~ maybe they have just given up prepping for Arch Madness. Missouri State was not scheduled to leave Springfield at all and had two non-DIs coming in Ecclesia and Evangel (and they are now down to two games total). Indiana State, 5 (with one non-DI, Truman State).

Bradley is now up to two non-DIs (Greenville, Judson).

And there is also the timeframe between 12/17 - 22 where one/two games can be added.

Also, if you listened to the broadcast from Columbus, Dan said they were initially playing four games in Lincoln ... which, after all the various defections, was reduced to two (and at one point, there were only two teams participating in total); that was the empetus of switching MTEs.

There may also be fiscal and/or health considerations limiting what they would/not schedule in terms of cost/travel.
I get it. But other schools are figuring it out. Murray State? Fantastic! Hats off to Dan for going on the road and getting it done!
Loyola? When Dan has a Final Four or even a Sweet 16 under his belt, he can schedule Greenville 10 times for all I care.

You’re missing the point of how difficult it is to schedule this season. If there wasn’t a pandemic I’d understand your points. But bitching about the schedule this year is comical.

This. I was in Oklahoma City in March, the day the Thunder had to cancel their NBA game when the virus first hit. Poof, game called off minutes before tip off. Jason Turner gets the message in the 5th inning of the World Series game that he's positive. Hard to tell when a positive test or two or three or ten will crop up.

No chance, if Dan or any coach gets to the sweet 16 or final four and we schedule a D3 the next year holy shit!!! This board will light up faster than the Christmas tree on National Lampoons Christmas Vacation!

Anyone who thinks scheduling is easy has never done it. Every spring for over 25 years I would have laid out the perfect baseball and softball schedules. Then spring would happen. Rain, snow, cold, you get it, A mad scramble would ensue. First, you call your friends. Then you call anyone you can find. If it's a weekday it's gotta be close by. Some Principals didn't like early dismissal. Too many kids missing too many 9th hours. If It's a Saturday you go anywhere. Always with an eye on the forecast. And everyone is complaining. I could go on but suffice it to say this covid thing is like spring weather. It just F's up everything. Give them a break.

Just another point on how hard it is to schedule this year.....

North Dakota, North Dakota State, South Dakota and South Dakota State are playing a round-robin in the CU Mortgage Direct Dakota Showcase at the Sanford Pentagon next weekend ~ they are all members of the Summit League and will also play each other two more times during conference play.

Kansas City (UMKC) is playing back-to-back nights at home versus Spurgeon College ~ they are not NCAA or NAIA but NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association).

Not everyone can be like Bob Huggins (pick-up the phone and have a quality game in fifteen minutes).

Isn’t back to back home games the way a lot of conferences are playing this season? I know ASUN is that way. I thought MVC had said the same. I think SIU doing this is a good move to see how it works and prepare.

Bench is going to be even more important playing back to back.

They are on the phone with the Moody Bible Institute Archers to get them to travel down from Chicago; they went 1-22 as a NCCAA member last year.

I know in the early days of CoViD-19 Brad Underwood said he would be willing to play the in-state schools for health and travel sake ... I am guessing the donors got in his ear since then (and as I type this, Valparaiso is at Purdue).

"Look, you may have played Oral Roberts and Tulsa at Oklahoma State, but here in Champaign in-state means Chicago State and SIU-Edwardsville".

I don’t know what it is but is seems like Illannoy has more of a “holier than thou” attitude than any other “largest school in the state.” Up until recently Iowa and Iowa State would play Drake and UNI, Indiana State played Indiana a few years ago, Missouri was supposed to play at Mo State this year, and as you saw, Valpo got Purdue tonight. Those were actual, scheduled games. Not MTE tournaments that they lucked into. I think if Birds hadn’t beaten the other two “big schools” in the state at their place (DePaul and Northwestern), it might be easier to schedule a game with them this season. Illannony won’t ever play the Redbirds unless the two are in a tournament of sorts and both teams win (or lose) games to play each other.

The Iowa series was forced for a long time by legislature I believe. Also now cancelled, I think.

Wisconsin has had long regular series not only with Marquette, but also UW-Green Bay and UW-Milwaukee. There's been some breaks now and then, but pretty regular.

My brother was the sports editor at siu-c, back in the 70s when he interviewed all of the ADs about an 8 team holiday tourney of the top instate schools, an idea that was being floated at the time.. Even NW and others said they probably would IF IL would. The IL AD said they would have everything to lose and nothing to gain .... yet, there were several teams better than them at the time. U of I arrogance is not new. They knew the name was bigger than the quality of their teams.
