Sounds like no Abdou this year

Why are you claiming this. What did you hear?

Maybe it’s what he didn’t hear. Dan did not mention him at all when mentioning the players. He talked about everyone else.

I had the same impression...no Abdou. He didn't come out and say that, but he also mentioned every other available player as being a contributor and adding to team depth.

Well, I find this whole Abdou situation kinda frustrating. Can coach at least say Yes, No, or still waiting on a decision. This thing of not talking about is crazy.
Also, is it against the rules for a "reporter to ask"? Is it against the rules for coach to mention him until it is "official"?
I really don't know...??

(the man behind the curtain is a figment of your imagination) :shhh: :eusa-think:

Talked about everyone besides Abdou, used the word eligible when talking about Rey.

I just ran across another 2018/19 MVC preview. I can't promise it hasn't been posted here before but it's new to me. Went a bit against the norm with the order of the top three....1. Redbirds 2. Salukis, 3. Ramblers.

That says Bradley is going to win 10+ Valley games. With that OOC, they are going to be completely unprepared for the first month of Valley season and will lose at least 3 games they shouldn't because of it. I can see them winning 9 on the high side, but probably more like 7-8.

That's fine, as long as we aren't one of them.

So do you agree with the 13+ for Illinois State?

I very much do, but I also notice that they don't list EC as a key player leaving and DO list Abdou as an impact freshman. Not sure how much homework these guys have done.

It was written before EC left I believe.

It's probably all done at homework. Probably haven't even seen any of our guys even play.

They went 9-9 in the league llast year and basically bring their whole team back. The noncon schedule is no different from what they had last year.

A shitty OOC didn’t stop Jankovich teams from winning 10 conference games.

they did lose their best player though and I wouldn't count on a freshman until he proves himself.

Not me. I love the enthusiasm, but I have no idea what this team is going to be like. Way too many question marks for me.

Just curious as to why Warrior agrees with the ISU prediction, but not with the Bradley prediction?
I would also add that his site picked Loyola @#35 last year, collegesportsmadness had Loyola @ #100
If ISU can win 13+ games, then Bradley can win 10+

1. Illinois St. Redbirds
2017-18 seasons: 18-15 (10-8)
Say it with me Redbirds fans: “This is the year.” Dan Muller certainly thought 2017 was the year until he watched his 27-6 (17-1) team snubbed by the NCAA tourney committee. And even last season’s team had a shot at an automatic bid until Loyola-crushed those hopes in the Arch Madness Championship game.

Despite recent disappointments, Coach Muller will have all the pieces this season to end the 20 + year NCAA tournament drought for Illinois State.

The return of Milik Yarbrough, Phil Fayne, and Keyshawn Evans form a formidable big three. The 6’6 Yarbrough had ridiculous numbers last year as a Junior (16.6 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 4.8 apg) ranking 4th in the league in points, 1st in assists, and 5th in rebounding. He’s a legit frontrunner for MVC player of the year. Fayne (15.6 ppg) and Evans (15.2 ppg) are equally capable of going off in any given game. Evans shot 41.9% shooting from deep and Fayne made his living inside the paint tallying 9 double-doubles on the season.

Muller has even more to work with explosive athletes William Tinsley and Madison Williams (see Williams’ dunk vs. Valpo this past season). Highly regarded guard Zach Copeland should also be eligible now to give the Redbirds yet another very talented player. This team will be FUN to watch.

Illinois St. does need to improve its outside shooting from this past season where they shot just 34.1% (8th in MVC). But make no mistake, the expectations for this squad are sky-high and rightfully so. Muller knows there are no guarantees. This team can perform well all season long, but it must show up in St. Louis determined to punch its long-awaited ticket to the Big Dance.
