Aren't Custer and Townes potentially available as grad transfers? And I have no reason to believe everyone on Loyola is coming back

A bit early for predictions imo. Teams are still adding and subtracting roster wise.

Nice little article. Here is hoping the valley takes care of business in the non conference.

Apparently Loyola is a finalist for a 6’9 grad transfer who averaged 19 points and shot 43 percent from three at San Jose State this year.

Wonderful.

Not sure he's a grad transfer. We've checked in with him, too. This is from the "Grad Transfer Interest" thread:
Not sure if this would be grad transfer or straight up transfer, have conflicting messages out there.

Ryan Welage, 6-9/205, stretch-4, transferring from San Jose St., originally from Greensburg, IN
http://www.verbalcommits.com/players/ryan-welage

Avg’d 18 & 5 at SJSU this past season as a junior. Would have 1 year eligibility. Coach who recruited him resigned late last summer. New head coach must not have made a good impression. Team was 5-25 (1-17) in MWC.

Video on Verbal Commits . . . I can’t help but think Jimmy Chitwood only taller.

Good catch. Had a momentary brain fart and didn’t realize it was the same kid. Glad to hear he would have to sit anyway if he did end up there.

Good article about the future of MVS. Says the future looks bright and that ISU might have one of their most talented team in years. Also calls Chastain a highly rated transfer along with Copeland.

This guy's "Our way-too-early 2018-19 mid-major Top 25" on The Athletic has us #5...just ahead of #6 Loyola.

The full article is at the link below, I think you need to have an account:

I find it funny he referred to Key as all-conference. Still blows my mind that he wasn’t. This just shows that it was pretty much a forgone conclusion he would be lol

I could see Vslpo in 4th place next year. IMO they will be competitive in their home gym and should pick off some road wins against lower division Valley teams. Don’t know what to think of Bradley because they lost a really good player in Thomas.

I predict that Valparaiso will beat Loyola at least once in 2018-19
Valparaiso will be one of five Valley teams to make either the NCAA Tournament, or NIT
Valparaiso may be one of the top 2 MVC teams in 2018-19
Valparaiso will be my early 2019-20 pre-season #1 pick
This is going to be the toughest MVC season since 2006 when the MVC sent four (Bradley, Southern Illinois, Wichita State, & Bradley) should have been five (Missouri State) to the NCAA Tournament & two (Missouri State & Creighton) to the NIT.
Can’t wait till November.

May need to back off on my predictions for Valpo since seeing Adunk33’s post on another thread that Joe Burton will not be back on team. Big blow to their season. Still think they will be good, just not sure how good.

Valpo future looking tougher if they not able to retain 2018 3 star recruit Javon Freeman who now wants a release so that he can go elsewhere....maybe Northwestern ? Will be interesting to see how this one plays out.

Anyone issues here? I think I agree with Elijah but I believe Boogie could be that guy for our team as well. He needs to start driving to the hoop. He did it a few times in STL and it opened up his three point shot. Boogie did have a really good latter half of the season. He also may be coming off the bench based off of Copeland's production, which could be the spark needed.

I'll give the nod to Boogie for the 18-19 season and Elijah for the 19-20 season.

Perhaps Copeland
