Went to Allen Fieldhouse this weekend to see KU get crushed by a very good TCU team (their defense was absolutely suffocating) and saw this banner in the rafters….
Crazy when you think of the history of the Valley.
Not sure if anyone watched ‘Bama vs. Houston. Great game, but also it was staggering just how far away we are from that level of talent.
If ever there was a case for ferocious defense, and aggressive rebounding, as a means to transition points, these teams represented. Amazing.
I don’t know how important winning is to todays kids, but I would guess their interest in a program as follows...
1. Amount of television exposure
2. Path to the NBA (see above)
3. Playing time
4. Facilities
5. March Madness
I believe ISU offers 3 & 4.
Obviously this varies from kid to kid...
It’s early but the Redbirds’ rpi is 265!!?! We’re so bad that Loyola actually dropped 4 spots after cleaning our clocks...twice.
So basically we’re officially a “bad loss” program.
Talk amongst yourselves...
Watching Iowa vs UNC right now makes me realize how it’s possible to play great fundamental basketball without a bunch of 4-5 start recruits.
It also makes me realize just how far away ISU is from even being in the same universe as a well coached team like Iowa. Just sad.
I know this is related to FBS, but I have been working on the website for years (kind of a passion of mine) and would love input/discussion.
I could even see the format taking on a World Cup soccer type of philosophy where FCS programs have a chance to move up and replace lower level FBS...
Saw this on Twitter...
“Big 10 could get 11-12 teams in NCAA tournament. Why? 50% of ALL non-conf games were buy games. That's more than any other conference. They won over 90+% of those buy games. Then played 20 games as a conference versus each other to protect their collective NET”
Talk...
