Why is Benson so quiet? Why wasn’t the press conference tweeted out by the MVC? Why is it so quiet?

Apparently apathy has set in everywhere. Benson better be writing one hell of an article and not play it safe.

And what will do you if his article doesn't meet your expectations?

Apathy has set in for me. Didn’t go to a home game this year. Won’t go again until we have some winners on the team who play like a team.

Look, I am frustrated and disappointed like hell. I am throwing stuff at my kids and kicking the dog.

Its over now and thank god there won’t be anymore damage in the TV room.

I have to think the Senoirs have to be even more frustrated. I saw it in their play.

I agree that Fayne is a top guy. I feel especially bad for him as I think he is very deserving of the 1st team honors. Phil, we will miss you.

I am also disappointed for the rest of the seniors. They were all capable of having a better season. I think there was no lack of wanting to win, I just don’t think we knew how to get there or matched their performance to what is necessary to get there. It’s a valuable lesson and one that is better to learn early in life versus later.

As for next year, who knows. Every team in the MVC will be better next year with the possible exception of Loyola, but let’s not count them out just yet. Fact is, we have a hell of a hill to climb.

The stars were aligned for us year with a down conference and 4 seniors. It didn’t happen so our turn to rebuild.

The pure learning curve of getting a new team to play together, tougher competition, a solid history of letting other teams run off 12-15 points unanswered over the last 7 years, will likely put into another 3-4 year wait.

A true point guard could have made Evans, Yarbs, and Fayne much better. It’s a fricking huge problem and I guarantee we will suck until it’s fixed. I can’t blame any player for not being the good PG because none of them have ever played it before.

Evans was much better when he played the shooting guard when PLee was here, so I think the dude is just better at the 2 and playing him at the 1 just made both positions sub standard.

I am not sure about Copeland. Again, what Dan sees is different than what I have seen. This guy had so much hype and I saw him have 2 decent games all year. It’s clearly not fair to him to have such high expectations.

I really like Ray and hope he keeps working at it, I think Chastain can really come on, I like Bruniga if he can be healthy. Gassmann is a decent role player, but we have no guards and probably no scorers. New guys on the bench???we won’t really know anything except hype until Christmas next year.

If we finished 7th in the MVC this year, we are probably 9th or 10th next year as it stands today.

Good luck to the Senoirs and thanks for choosing to be a Redbird. Comeback and see us and it’s unfortunate that the year didn’t go better.

We love our Birds and all the best to you.

I’ll suggest he reconsider his profession.

Just reinforce that the student paper does a better job than he does. It was great when he got all pissy because Tolentino scooped him.

Benson is a joke. He needs to stay off of Twitter. He is a brutal follow.

Maybe this was already brought up but I heard Josh Jefferson on the radio postgame earlier saying that he is looking forward to working on this unfinished business again next year. I hope that saying doesn’t stick around because it certainly didn’t mean anything this year

Better than Bradley’s The Arrival. But they are still playing so...

I'm sure this means nothing to the negative posters on this page, but I really don't post on this page much at all, if ever, but I read every post every day, and I want every poster to know how insane your posts are. I used to enjoy reading my morning news about Redbird basketball, but now I cannot even doing so, without hearing about firing the coach, or what else. I am sick of hearing about it. I am sure this post will be deleted by the morning, but I want at least the someone to know that actual real Redbird fans exist who don't love to cirticize every jumpshot taken by 20 year old Redbird players. I am just about done with this forum and would recommend other ISU fand follow suit. I will forever follow the Redbird program, and will never follow this kind of negative forum again, it is truly a toxic and horrible place to discuss Illinois state basketball. Roll birds and a lifelong REDBIRDS fan signing off. Please discuss who you want to "replace" Dan with below.

Dan looks smarter when he has good players. See COY 2 years ago. He had 6 guys he could play that actually contributed significantly in fulfilling their role on the team. This year, he had 2. I guess I’ll stop bitching about 1 trick ponies, since the solution seemed to be the 0 trick pony. Dan has strung together an impressive number of recruiting trail whiffs. He really needs to bat about .500 on recruits to be successful. Every guy on our scout team needs to be an actual player, if Dan’s batting average is to approach respectability. I’m not sure what it would take to constitute Dan’s removal before his contract is up, but I would think next year would represent a season of urgency given the underachieving campaign that just transpired. Unfortunately, I fear Dan hasn’t bottomed out yet. Returning seemingly little in terms of much actual production from this year’s active players, makes next year an uncertain proposition at best. Seemingly, a team that will be a preseason pick to be an Arch Madness First 4 participant again. All the eggs are in the basket of scout team players. Every Redbird newcomer needs to state a case for the MVC all newcomer or freshmen teams. What are the odds of that?

I don’t know what you are talking about. The mvc puts every press conference on their YT channel with 20 or 45 mins after the game. Watched our last night.

I see so much complaining about this year's roster and then in the same post people stress about nothing returning from that group.

What were the odds Drake finished with a share of the league title?

A lot of people had Missouri State finishing in a tie for third as well, I'm sure.

Those stories give me hope that our rotation can be retooled within a year. FWIW, our scout team has the benefit of being in Dan’s system and absorbing Dan’s culture for a year.

That’s exactly right! What kid on our team strikes fear in the opposing team if he is wide open from 20 ft? It’s easy to shut Shaq down on this roster! Looks like a lot of the same coming in! Look at Boyd’s 3 point percentage!

Got it. Using your logic only insane, negative fans criticize the program and real fans are behind this team and coach thru thick and thin. By any chance did you see any of our games this year? Fandom is not measured by bling loyalty, it's measured by passion. Sometimes that passion needs to be used to call out the flaws of the team. In our case, there are way too many. One thing for sure, after seven years of no ncaa tourney bids and the regression we had this year it's time to make the change. I only fear is we can't and won't.

This, ladies and gentlemen, is Redbird basketball.

I resonate with this tremendously. It's not constructive here. It's toxic.

If anyone can do it better then shine up your resume and apply for the AD job or the head coaching job. Or, take a mortgage out on your home or go talk to Ted DiBiase and pony up some money to get "the little bitch" DM (not my quote or belief btw) the heck out of here.

No I'm not happy with the direction of the basketball program, but I'm not wiring Redbird Arena for a controlled demolition just yet.

I want a damn winner as much as anyone but going nuclear here really, really helps that cause in helping us to get a winner. NOT.
