Whether by chance or design, only Keyshawn Evans logged 30+ minutes in last nights opening round game. The dispersion of minutes may have made things closer than desired yesterday, but (hopefully) will benefit us well today with fresher legs.

Same prediction as yesterday, same result:

Birds 68
Dogs 58

Hopefully yesterday's epic tussle didn't take much out of the team. Everyone got some PT and hopefully worked some nasty habits out of their system. We need JJ's shot, we need Milik to show up earlier, we need Key to find some semblance of his game from last year and Phil and both Matts need to keep their motor running. Tip of the hat to Isaac as he had a nice little game.

Let's keep this thing on the tracks. GO BIRDS!!!

Hopefully, got our nerves out of the way. The pressure is all on our opponents the rest of the way. Look for ISU to play more relaxed, and be more effective tonite. And for Drake to be the tight team.

at this point, not gonna happen. all i ask for from Key tonight is 6-10 pts, tough defense - getting a hand up on shooters (not fouling), and taking care of the ball - no lazy passes. if he sees a few shots fall early, maybe he gets confident and can contribute more like 10-15 pts.

Jekyll and Hyde. Last night was Hyde, and won in spite of it. We’re due for Jekyll.

keep in mind, Drake lost Wilkins. not a big time scorer, but a key piece who ate up a lot of minutes for the dogs. his numbers against us:
MIN FG 3PT FT OREB DREB REB AST STL BLK TO PF PTS
30 2-9 1-5 0-0 0 2 2 3 1 0 0 2 5
37 3-12 1-7 2-2 0 2 2 5 0 0 0 0 9

birds - 67
pups - 64

Evans playing 30+ minutes is what made the game closer

Redbirds can fly.
Dawgs can bark.

Redbirds 77
Drake 55

Some miracle will make it happen.

I just better not see a game like the one from 2008 from ScottTradeCenter.

Looks better than the +5 posted earlier. Hard to believe bettors are betting the Birds and moving it to 3.5, but I thought 5 looked a little fat.

67% of the bets are coming in on Drake and the line has moved from 5 to 3.....what that says is a lot of big sharp money coming in on Illinois State today.

It takes major stones to bet on a Jekyll and Hyde team like the Birds. The Birds are like a box of chocolates.
