I'm sure this means nothing to the negative posters on this page, but I really don't post on this page much at all, if ever, but I read every post every day, and I want every poster to know how insane your posts are. I used to enjoy reading my morning news about Redbird basketball, but now I cannot even doing so, without hearing about firing the coach, or what else. I am sick of hearing about it. I am sure this post will be deleted by the morning, but I want at least the someone to know that actual real Redbird fans exist who don't love to cirticize every jumpshot taken by 20 year old Redbird players. I am just about done with this forum and would recommend other ISU fand follow suit. I will forever follow the Redbird program, and will never follow this kind of negative forum again, it is truly a toxic and horrible place to discuss Illinois state basketball. Teddy Hawkins!! Haha! That dude was a hot mess too! Just to clarify. These are 20 year olds that are receiving $20,000+ scholarships each year and a coach that got $600,000 this year. There is a significant level of expectations they should be held to. This board is very calm compared to real Division 1 programs.

I get not throwing players under the bus. Being accountable. But Dan takes it to a level that displays how secure he is at ISU under Lyons. Either that, or he wants the buyout.

This place is no different from any message board. Have you read SIUs board the last couple years? Indiana states? Even the ever positive Evansville board at the end of last year, not to mention P5 schools when they are going bad. I am not in the fire Dan camp, although many of my friends are. Some of the discussions are over the top but that is what message boards are for discussions. If you want all sunshine and rainbows stick to reading the Pantagraph. I just get tired of those that say criticism is ok but anytime someone does they are not a real fan.

Just saw where Hinson (SIU Head Coach) resigned after last nights loss. At least he had the dignity to recognize he failed the fans. We should be so lucky.

I appreciate Dan's take on this, as the season was his fault ultimately. I think he wants the guys to know that he won't unnecessarily call them out, and he is an honorable guy who will fall on his sword when he has to. It is good for all the returning guys to see.

I think Barry did it because he knew he was going to be fired, and wanted to go out his way. I don't think there is any chance Dan gets fired, and Dan won't step away voluntarily. I think he knows he failed the fans and the players this year, and I know he wants better, but I don't think there is any chance he steps away on his own, without being hired somewhere else (definitely not happening after this year).

This guy has been a Division 1 head coach for 17 years. 0 NCAA appearances! I get he is a nice guy and has some some whimsical one liners that catch the media's attention. He has made alot of money for being below average.His coaching career is where Dan's is headed. Dan just tries to be funny through Twitter instead of the papers. Barry 2.0 is in Normal, IL!

Yea, you were rooting for us to lose to EU. We remember. Figures, no ISU fan got what they wanted. 80 minutes of absolute shit. What a great showing. I’m sure Dan’s level of introspection in the wake of it, will yield great results moving forward. Can’t wait to see Dan 2.0 after he reinvents himself.
