I am guessing Kasubke, Poindexter, Andrews, and Sissoko go to the portal? I am unsure of what eligibility the "seniors" have because of the Covid year, but Sandage, Knight, Lewis, Kotov, Petrakis, and Scmitt will be moving on too. Either through graduation or the portal. With the 3 Fresh signed, McChesney and Burford, that leaves 7-8 ( I am missing someone that is on scholly) scholarships to fill. Do you see any of those guys staying listed above? If so, why? I just don't see anyone on that list getting us to the top of the MVC. I guess they could be role players, but why burn the scholarship when you can take a chance in the portal and the worst case scenario you land another role player. Andrews for me is the question mark. Maybe he will transfer but where’s the film/tape on him to draw interest? He need to be honest and careful with his decision.
I totally disagree with this. Kasubke need to finish this season strong super strong to even think about the possibility of transferring again. There’s just no way I see Mal even contemplating another move at this point in his career. Remember as a walk on at UVA he earned playing time becoming part of the rotation in 19 games last year in the ACC playing significant minutes in a win at Duke. He understands the process. He’s not looking past this year but know next year will present his game in a different light. Why would Sissoko transfer? I can’t see that either. He’s gotten pretty good in his roll being here. Off all the kids on this team I believe he’s playing his roll the best by far. If this kid can stay out of foul trouble he could be a difference maker and that’s what’s needed from this team.

I guess I am not really concerned if they transfer to another program. That's not ISU's problem. Anyone can be told there will not be a place for them on the team the next year. Just like any player can up and leave. You say trust the process. Answer this, do you see these players getting us to the top of the MVC? I guess it would need to be next year since most will be seniors. I just don't see that. If they are strictly going to be role players and nothing beyond that, that can be found in the portal and maybe one transfer ends up being THE piece.

Yes I actually can. Look at the team right now this year just in conference to date. 2-4 and could easily be 4-2 or 5-1. We’ve beaten ourselves a lot this year. Playing experience at this level with a good work ethic can make roll players feel like major contributors and that’s truly what put teams over the top. Pedon seem to know what he’s doing. Incoming players/portal players will fill some holes that we’ve seen so far.

End of the bench scholarships are my concern. Then no guarantee a guy like Kendall Lewis comes back or uses his COVID gear. Pedon won’t chase anyone off, but I think he’ll be very honest about roles going forward and be very supportive of those choices the players make. By all accounts he’s not just talk but actually lives by what he says.

That’s a really good point. I would hope Lewis return as well. He have that motor on the court that is sometimes hard to find.

I'll also remind folks that the "grad transfer" immediate eligibility rule is still in place. So a lot of the older guys, who already have transferred once, could use that as their COVID year without fear of sitting out. Though, who even has to sit out anymore? It's gonna be a wild ride. Stay on the horse the next couple years until COVID eligibility is exhausted and hopefully CBB will return to some sense of normal.

I've said it before but I'm anticipating Pedon needing to fill around 4 scholarships this spring. I hope it's not more than that because couple that with the three young guys for 8 new players and here come the "young/inexperienced" reasons for not performing well.
