Live action, MVC play. He hasn't been tested in game situations whatsoever. I like the Quincy stat-line, but it's Quincy.

His scholarship very much seems to be on a year-to year deal (yes, I realize all scholarships are on a year-to-year basis), but reading between the lines he's got to prove himself big-time if he wants to stay on scholly. Which means Dan's confidence level isn't necessarily super high.

I'm not knocking the kid, I'm rooting for him! I hope he makes it BIG! But I see him, at most, like a Todd Kagel type contributor.

I think it is too early to tell what kind of ceiling Ike has at this point. He is more or less a frosh with experience with the team. Will his defense be perfect...no, probably not, but no freshman's defense is. There will be growing pains with him. Probably games where he will look like a world beater, and some games where it will look like the world just beat him.

My personal opinion is that by the time he graduates we are probably going to be really happy he is wearing a redbird uni.

Congrats to Isaac.

This doesn't happen without hard work on the court and in the classroom. Nice to see Dan reward a kid like this and it sends a great message to the next kid that decides to accept a preferred walk-on spot in the Redbird program.

Congrats to Isaac's parents too. :D

:text-+1: Absolutely. Great to hear this

He's a good player and the best shooter on the team. Every time Muller is asked about this he says, "we were able to award him one for this year." Essentially, it is Ike's to lose. He has to have a good year because Muller is recruiting like he has 2 open scholarships (not including defects) for next season.

All scholarships are year to year. Gassman's isn't different than anyone else's at this point. Sure, coaches want to honor their promises. But a lot of that depends on the athlete as well. Every year is an audition to keep a scholarship moving forward. #Meritocracy.

Yes and no. Hein still has a scholarship. It's a lot easier to take away a scholly from a walk-on who was awarded a 1 yr, than the standard recruit.

This. Perfect example. I've seen these two guys play one-on-one probably 5 times. No question who should get the scholarship vs who had one from the beginning. Despite talent favoring Gassman, Hein won't lose his scholarship next season to a recruit, Gassman could.

Hein R.S. his first year and his scholarship will expire when David's does. Their final season here will be the 2018-19 season.

I'm afraid he might use his grad transfer and leave us for another school. ;)

Not really. They sign a new "contract" every year. Completely up to Dan who stays on scholarship. Like I said, Dan wants to honor his promises. Per Dan's standards, Hein is living up to his end of the bargain ..... good teammate, good grades, stays out of trouble, and has 7 foot friend.

So then, "yes really." As you perfectly laid out the reasons why...

Awesome. To me, this is what college athletics should be about. Rewarding hard work and effort.

I know I mentioned this earlier. I have heard " Not sure its a fact" that one of the jc transfers did not meet the NCAA academic transfer rules and would redshirt this season. Is it a possibility for an addition if this is the case?

Well, that would mean one of two guys. I hope you heard wrong and everybody is good to go. But if it is true, this might hurt more than a little bit.

Don't really know if it means anything Copeland was the only player not at FanFest. I believe if you do not meet The NCAA transfer rules you can receive any financial aid

Seems like we would have known if there were academic transfer issues before now? Anyone have more info on this?

My understanding it was a class from his community college did not pass it. Im led to believe he was in town all summer doing the class online. He did not do any official practices with the team only open gym type settings.Hence you don't see him any of the hype videos and was not on scholarship this summer.

Thanks...so are you saying he might not have finished or passed the online class this summer in order to be eligible?

Supposedly that's the case did not pass the class so he would have to pay for school and won't be eligible to join the team for at least the fall
