Metamoran....I was at the Wichita State game in '83. I believe they also had Aubrey Sherrod at guard who was tremendous. Yes, we won and alcohol was absolutely involved. It was very cold and a bunch of us wore large winter coats and brought in as many beers as we could carry. We stood virtually the entire game in the upper bowl and when you wanted to drink you just sat down and pounded one. Great memories!
I was there too, definitely smuggled some in. If I remember it was a 9PM start on a Saturday night

As someone who attended ISU during two NIT and two NCAA tournament appearances, I'll echo your sentiment saying how loud that Washington State game was. The SIU double-overtime game in '95 was very loud as well and easily one of my favorite ISU games ever.

Man, this thread is really getting me excited for tomorrow. Can't wait!
My favorite road games:
Wisconsin NIT game
NCAA Tournament against Tennessee in Sacramento
NCAA Tournament first half (plus about two minutes) against Arizona in Sacramento
NCAA Tournament first 35 minutes against Iowa State in Auburn Hills

Worst road game:
34 point thrashing at Cincinnati

The 3500 or so in Horton last year was great, very loud and the cool thing about it was as people noticed how loud it could get, each cheer got louder and longer, as if to keep making the volume rise. I could only imagine what an SRO crowd in there back in the day was like. It's a rare case of the venue itself being like part of the crowd. More than the setting; a character in the story.

I was at the '90 title game...loudest sustained volume for a whole game ever at RA, but the singular loudest moment was Coop's second 3 against Washington State in the NIT in '95. Still waiting for that game to surface on YouTube. The tape HAS to exist somewhere. Someone mentioned the Creighton game in '09...that's a great example too. Whole place was rocking and there were 3 really neat things about that night/season: 1. It was a sellout over Xmas break (but still had a whole section of students), 2. We were 14-0 at that point 3. Hoops games were THE thing to do around town.

Those first two Jank years really piss me off :p. We were so damn good and games were a blast.
I disagree with ya but who cares! 2 absolute magical moments!

Coop shooting a 3, any 3...but certainly a game-changing 3... was one of the most anticipated moments in Redbird Arena history. Maybe the most crowd-anticipating shooter we've ever had in Redbird. That kind of energy is INVALUABLE, even if the shooter misses. It can turn a season around and it LIGHTS a crowd up...even checking into the scorer's table!

TBS 20----The overall series since ISU went D1 is very even. There has been misery on both sides.
ISU has won the tourney 4 times and BU 3 since ISU joined the MVC in 81/82.
It is a great rivalry!
I meant as a whole program not isu vs bradley

Crowd: "C-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-p!" ...Steve Adams: "An-TO-nio CUUUUP-er." - magical moments.

Yeah I remember how cold it was. We had gone to the bar there by Avantis and left our coats in the car because we didn’t want to fight them at the game. Sprinted to Horton and back before and after game.
Alcohol helped us stay warm.

And so I use this as a good example, but there've been several others - who the hell needs more of a "game experience" than this, for cripes sake!!!??? This is what it's all about. Get yourself "happy" and get your fanny over to CEFCU and get into it. Now. No video board, no rap between game segments, no prompting from the hostess - get it together and get going!!

Oh, but that putback slam by Kenneth Pierson! That was the one shining moment in a game of utter misery.

My excitement for tomorrow is uncontainable - reconnecting with people I haven't seen in years.

Just watched this video again giving a rundown of Horton history, plus some footage at the end from last year's game. Also, just watched the podcast with Tom Lamonica who goes into the DePaul screwjob and referees postgame.

Exactly this. We turned EVERY game into its own party. Weekday games, everyone skipped their afternoon classes and we'd start pregaming by 2. Pub by 3, final apartment gathering by 4 and we're in the arena right when the doors opened at 6. Weekend games...all that x 2. Postgame celebrations were the same way. There were times we had pretty much all of section D gathered and liquified before each game. Does all this sound "bad"? Maybe...but hey, you're in college. Have fun. And fueling up before games, lets face it, makes it easier/more exciting/more fun to get into it and loud. I had no voice for 4 straight years.

My ears have hurt ever since the AC/DC concert. The first MVC championship when we beat Tulsa. Nolan Richardson tearing off his sport coat had a tremendous crowd reaction. Lamb, Cornley, Swartz, R. Melanie, Jackson, Johnson etc etc etc, just some really great basketball. And, yes of course Donewald.

Terrible jump switch defense with bigs to begin game until first time out cost us 8 points, then we reverted to 4 guard standing around the 3 point line. Thankfully they put Foster back in but Lewis still on bench- all points coming from the paint???
