I am hoping he is more in the Hank Cornley, Rick Lamb corner
Funny, when I was reading the article I posted in Chase Walker's recruiting thread about the Ohio All-Star game, made me think about Cornley and I started thinking how great it would be if Walker ended up contributing as much as Cornley. Good thought!

This is Fantastic News - the pieces seem to be coming together in a very nice fashion.

The quotes from Myles in Randy's story and Coach Pedon's in the official release are so refreshing. Excited to watch this young man and the entire team.

Swagger time!

All the pieces are in place, go win the damn conference!
Pump the brakes. At least the arrow sure as shine seems to be creeping upward. I know, it's 2023, not 1994, but Foster seems very Lunceford/Wright kinda guy. Walker very LeRoy-ish. Pence Dan-ish. Kinzinger Cason-ish. Sure, no Rico's, Jepps, Trotters, but this is, at the very least, gonna be fun to watch.

I hope Kinzinger can pass and run the offense like Cason but shoot like he did in high school. That would be a great player

I was starting to become negative Nelly thinking Foster had second thoughts. Limited video on his jump shot looked like a slow release. However, I guess u can compensate for that with long arms. Him being able to score in the lane will allow our perimeter offense to get better looks and open up lanes to the rim. Defenses are not going get away with selling out on the 3 point line.

I'd love to see a lot of 1-3-1 trail with this cast. It's ripe for the length and seeming athleticism, not necessarily sharp-shooting halfourt, but good from the charity stripe after transitions. The molds Coach seems to be casting are quite Valley-centric and locally attainable in the "breadbasket" approach. Very cool.

I think several people are hearing the same rumors on the players ... staying, going, and deciding.

The word I received yesterday was, Foster is thankful for the offer from ISU, but is looking to put his name out there to see if someone else would offer more money. Also heard Lieb is 50/50. Time will tell if that was correct.
Yep. Everything you said but 2 more 50/50 you didn’t mention.

I have to admit I don’t enjoy college sports nearly as much as I used to now that it’s another version of professional sports with our annual payroll much less than a lot of other teams. We’re the Kansas City Royals of NCAA sports.

Except we can’t threaten to relocate…

Athletics and Royals are at a clear disadvantage from a good piece of the league however mid majors are even at a bigger disadvantage. At least pro baseball teams can have a player control for six years before free agency.

The other thing about pro sports is the salary cap so it creates an equal playing field. Then, the differences come down to fan bases, ownership/leadership and geography plays a role in where athletes want to live.

The current college landscape sucks in a lot of ways, especially for mid major programs like Illinois State. We become feeder programs for the highest bidders. It's a true paradox for me because as much as it sucks, I equally support athletes being able to earn as much as they can and feel they should have always had that right.

My love of the game, including college hasn't changed much. I'm enjoying this tournament as much as any previous year and love the storylines. UConn is my new adopted bandwagon team. I love the culture that Danny Hurley has built and how they play. I especially loved how they destroyed Illinois. They are an elite program and I love how they have built their program with players that fit a certain culture, not based on the most talent but based on what will build team chemistry.

I'm also grateful that my new "hometown" team is San Diego State because I get to cheer for a non power 5 school that is playing above expectations for the size of program they are. San Diego State would be a great job for a coaching staff because there isn't near the pressure to win compared to bigger programs and San Diego County has 4 million population with no professional NBA or NFL team so they are the only game in town for basketball fans. Living here, it's a great place to recruit to as it's the best climate in the continental US.

Two things:

MLB doesn’t have a salary cap.

They’re calling NC State a Cinderella team. Just cuz a team is a low seed doesn’t make them a Cinderella in the traditional sense, especially if they’re from a blue-blood conference. Of course, Cinderella was also a blue-blood since her father was noble. So maybe they’re right and really the others are just upstarts. At least that’s how I think the P5 see it.
