Montana sold out 27,000 sear stadium. They only had about 3,000 tickets available to the public.
dang, 27,000 .. capacity is just 25,200, so lot of SRO tickets. Much bigger than the 18.7k FargoDome. You can bet Bison bought up as much as they could. Road trip is 13 hour, which is just 2 hours less than Frisco for Bison. Not recalling NCAA rules for what Montana must set aside for playoff opponent.

Current temp is 16, though should be 33-35 during most of the game. Near zero wind should help deal with temps.

look at what a horrible start Montana had this season. First 5 games weren't even top 25 material 4-1 but were not impressing against weaker schedule. Been on a roll after that. They changed QBs in game 5. He was a QB transfer from UCA .. dual threat who wasnt playing there, but was backup RB to start season .. maybe wildcat thing ? But he is reson they turned their season around offensively.

2 very good, and very hot teams .. NDSU is no longer the team who lost to UND by 25, or USD obviously.

What I find impressive is the consistency of their attendance over multiple seasons. That has provided the need and support to add more seats to the stadium. I was there in 2020. It's not physically big, nor grand from outside. You'll almost never see pictures from the view of approaching the stadium, only from inside it or from above. But they've added groups of seats in the end zones, in the corners, all around the place, to build that capacity. It's amazing that they get that many to attend each year and to sit in crappy end zone seats. They must have a fun game experience.

The Bison have opened up their offense the 2nd half of the year. You would think it will be a shoot out today.

As to attendance, what else is there sports wise to go to in Bozeman Montana??? For 1000 miles what is there to go to, Denver? Maybe Seattle? Lots of outdoor recreation but if you want a sporting experience you are looking at one of the few places in the Northern Rockies. Illinois State has to compete with the Chicago teams, St.Louis teams, Indianapolis, Big however many, minor league hockey and baseball teams. Inside of six hours central Illinois can be to Kansas City, Nashville, Milwaukee, the list goes on and on. We have tremendous competition which means we probably need to be happy with a lot fewer butts in the seats.

Okay, but the population of Montana is 1.1 Million, give or take. Population of Illinois is 12.5 million, give or take. So, you know, there should be a few thousand spare fannies for ISU!! Should be . . . :)

Population is part of it. But I think it is moreso about who makes headlines across the state ... ISU can only make headlines in BloNo area papers, TV, radio .. that's 125k or so. Rest of state couldn't care less, other than alumni.

So, the Montanas, North Dakotas, South Dakotas are THE BIGGEST game in town across the entire state .. so they are the only ones competing for headlines .. 2 in each state.

Bison getting killed by penalties ... driving again, then had 24 yd pass to 25 yd line, but 15 yd penalty pushed them back to their own 37. Now just got another one .. delay of game, They must be rattled right now.

Yes, but . . . . . the Twins and Vikes and Broncos and Rockies (and Mariners and Seahawks, and Timberwolves and Nuggets) are pretty popular in the "hinterlands" and get a fair amount of headlines in Fargo and Grand Forks and Sioux Falls and Brookings and Bozeman and Missoula. So, "mostly true" that there's not as much competition, but there is some. You might be surprised at how much coverage there is of the pro teams.

Comment on population, huge amount of population is in the northeast corner of the state not north central/central Illinois. U of I, two southerns, east and west schools and numerous other institutions private and public, and I am not even mentioning the schools in the northeast corner. Lots of competition for eyeballs and butts. And, very easy to put your butt in many professional seats. If you are in the area of Montana where the majority of their population resides you got two choices. Today’s attendance there would be a work day, day game in 100 degree heat at Busch Stadium
