Of course it’s a good thing. Everyone on this board wants the Redbirds to win.So this is good thing or no ... lets do a poll ?
Yeah turns out you were right! 🖐.
This one just maybe ?
This one just maybe ?Play for the 6-5 season or 5-6 !
This one less soWhats new ? SDSU left a GPS system, map and schematic. YSU, UNI, now MOST !
yep .. but not until someone has the courage to say it, does it guarantee a low scoring game !!
you weren’t wrongI'm sensing a bit of an offensive shootout this week. Massey has us #31 against #55 SOS, and has 3-5 MoST #29 against notably tougher #14 SOS. Our avg score is 32-20, while MoST is 30-31 .. again playing a tougher SOS.
But here's where we have some room for optimism ... their run offense and run defense are below average to weak. And while their pass offense is very good, their pass defense is average at best.
We have the big problems defensively playing against teams that can run and pass, though eventually settling down 2nd half. So our defense should be able to focus more against their pass game, we might do ok getting stops defensively this week. That said, they're pass game is very strong .. and we still have huge breakdowns in coverage at times.
So if I were a betting man, I would bet the over on 55.5 ... great weather will favor both pass games. And spread infers a 29-27 type game. I think both teams could see the 30's. So I like my Redbirds to win a game like 35-31. Annexstad is getting so much more comfortable slinging it .. I just wish we did a little less spreading wide at times. We depend too much on YAC doing that ... though he did find Gandy (11 catches a lot last week. Plus we now have Kasper back. But our WRs are only getting <=10 yds/catch, just like our TE. I wish we would stretch the field long a little more than we do. ... with more mid level passes.

I think we were lucky this went our way.
That and he knew season was over for sure with a loss.Spack apparently has been reading this board clamoring that we should go for it more on 4th downs.
I'm glad we won. I do think he needed another 1/2 - 1 step more though for possesion.I agree that this could have gone the other way but I'll admit that I'm biased and I'll argue that the officials made the correct call.
Here's the definition of a catch -
To catch a ball means that a player:
"Maintains control of the ball long enough to enable him perform an act common to the game." You hear some announcers say that the receiver needs to catch the ball and then make a football move to establish possession. I submit that my client Wenkers Wright did just that. He caught the ball at the two-yard line. He turned his body and headed into the endzone - football move. Not knowing exactly where he was he deliberately held the ball out in front of him. He lost control of the ball at that point but he had already -
- Secures control of a live ball in flight before the ball touches the ground, and
- Touches the ground in bounds with any part of his body, and then
- Maintains control of the ball long enough to enable him to perform an act common to the game, i.e., long enough to pitch or hand the ball, advance it, avoid or ward off an opponent, etc., and
A) broken the plane of the endzone B) traveled 3 yards with the football while making a football move
C) controlled the ball a yard deep into the endzone. 2 pts. REDBIRDS!!!!!! The defense rests.
