I've called out Dan a few times on this board. He's making me eat my words. I'm happy to do that. Let's keep rolling!

And maybe their is no way we throw up that much trash next time!
If and’s and but’s

Any realistic fan can recognize that last night was somewhat of a fluke. I'm not sold on that performance by ISU

Espn announcers said that towards the end of the game. Of course they aren’t haters or biased either.

If you get that right I believe more paying customers will come. We got plenty of extra seats so let the students in for free! Anybody know how much money that Red Alert pass even raises? It's only like 50 bucks for those who want one. To be honest, I was surprised that many students requested the free tickets. I figured those who really wanted to go would've had bought a pass. So basically, the student cost was more prohibitive than I first thought. To me they can charge me a little more on my season tickets if they start letting students in for free. It's worth it. The games will be more enjoyable. I love seeing the arena packed, cause that helps us win games.
That's been my concern/gripe ever since I heard that Red Alert is no longer "governed", at least not like it used to be when it was part of the AD (someone correct me if my details are confused there, but I think it's something like this now?) Anyway, the membership is $50 for the whole year for ALL SPORTS. So even just going to football and hoops games makes the thing pay for itself. Plus VB, baseball, softball, soccer, gymnastics---plenty of events year round to get every penny out of that membership. But I digress.
If student tix are $5, that's an issue IMHO. Believe me, most college kids can find a hell of a lot of other things to spend that money on. Face it, if a student is down to his last $5, is he going to buy a ticket to a hoops game or use it for a house party? If they bought that Red Alert membership back in August though, they can do both The AD did an awesome push for this game and the donors were extremely generous buying those student tix. It's kind of crappy that a game with that many narratives (battle for 1st, national TV, honoring Leudke, Final Four opponent whose coach was a former coach here, budding rivalry, etc etc) had to be pushed so hard around campus but literally that's what it takes to get students' attention these days if you aren't Duke.
Honoring Leudke is suppose to draw students to a game? Likely only a few have recently heard of him and even those students likely have listened to very few games called by him. The elder Redbird fans are the ones that appreciate Leudke.

Yes, true. I just needed another bullet point

1. It was great to see many of you for the pre-game festivities. We know each other through our keyboards pretty well but meeting up for drinks and Redbird conversation is always great.
2. Great turnout and I think a lot of those give away student tickets were used. The arena was loud and raucous which is the way it should be. I wish the birds could have gotten a good chance for an alley oop or a fayne power dunk to bring the house down.
3. Custer couldn’t hit the ocean falling out of a boat. He missed some wide open looks which helped us come away with a win.
4. I’m worried about tired legs for 3 games in 3 days in St Louis. I’m hoping to hear that Hein or Jefferson will be available by then so that we have more than an 8 person team for Arch Madness.
5. Great defense on Krutwig the entire game. As HCDM said, it took a little bit of everyone to keep him from getting the ball in a scoring position.
6. There has been a lot of talk about students getting into games free with student ID. I’m a big proponent of this idea. Add a $20 fee onto a students fees/tuition bill and you’ll still be making more money than Red Alert passes, unless we’re selling 8,000 Red Alert passes per year. $20 on a $20,000+ tuition bill would probably be a lot more painless, in my opinion.

Make it specifically for that, and let everyone know it's for that. I'm sure if we knew that $10/$15 could get a kid a bus ride and a ticket to all the games, some of us would find the $10/$15 to spare, make the bus ride and game free to the students who want to go and get them to sign up early. Students would have to fund the rest of the visit, but get them there and then they will figure out how to get a room with 1 single bed and 14 other friends and split the cost for the weekend.

So much of our success is directly related to his mental and emotional game. I really hope he keeps it up, because if he does - we're going to be in good shape.
