.....I think the athletic department should sell tickets to whoever wants to buy them right now.
Largest crowd for the last regular home game in the Spack era (8 seasons) is 8006 vs UNI in 2013. That includes our game with #1 ranked and eventual national champ NDSU in 2012. We too were a playoff team that season when we drew 6793 for the game with the Bison.

good perspective to consider

- 2012 NDSU game was thanksgiving week, we were 8-2 going against 7-1 NDSU .. but it was Hancock 1.0 and we had already torn down the east side bleachers. We had 4,840 for season opener against Dayton that year. We averaged 6500 per game this year, despite finished 8-3 and making it to quarterfinals in playoffs .. again only had west side stands.

- 2013 game was early November and we were sitting 4-4, though had very rough start. Difference had to be it was 1st year of Hancock 2.0 and we were undefeated at home that year. We average over 10,000 per game this year despite finishing 5-6.

I think this time will be very different.

I think this game will be a sellout but let's hope that there are more red in the stands than yellow/green. I'm really hoping a lot of students come out because students really bring that unique atmosphere. Well I guess we will see but I know for sure that I will be there!

SDSU and USD still talking on AGS about what they have done over the years to lock out NDSU from buying up their tickets when they host. Granted, they are neighboring states, which makes them more susceptible. But after SDSU, we are the only threat to NDSU in conference this year. That last game will have big consequences.

Disable that game from public view now. Block student section entirely and put Red Alert on full red alert to promo that game. And keep doing email ticket promotions .. Spack 2-packs are fine, but do a "Senior Day" promo too and remind them it is 5-time national champs.

SDSU and USD do this every year they host NDSU.

Been looking back several years at game attendance for ISU football. The main driver of big attendance games seems to be the time of the year games are played vs any other variable. Play as many games early in the season and at home and fight like hell to play games on the road towards the end of the season. Skip the early season bye week.

true for most part. but no point in settling for same ole same ole .. everyone should incrementally do what we can each year and each game. Proactively anticpating and promoting what could be a hugely important game for our football program with playoff repercussions which could result in 5 time champion Bison having to come back here again in playoffs .. I'd say this is opportunity worth exploiting best we can .. even if it only means we draw 10k instead of 8k we drew in 2013 .. plus 3k from Fargo would make for sell out and great game day experience for fans, players, town, and recruits.

If we're at point A and want to get to point C .. we have to get to point B first. Selling out Senior Day before Thanksgiving would be something fans and donors wouls notice.

This is only reason I am making big deal about this years Senior Game before Thanksgiving .. very unque situation for a game 11 sitting here in August. Let the players and coaches take it one game at a time. Admin and Fans need to do what we can to ensure Hancock is not half filled with yellow/green in a what is likely going to be a huge game .. defining moment type game for building fan base. We already know we can fill it up for opener, Homecoming and Family Day.

bump with season starting this week ... don't forget about NDSU game and ticket strategy. The more we are winning, the more of our tix Bison will devour. Ticket office and Sports Admin need to keep this game on their radar ... if we're playing for conf championship and/or top 8 seed ... it would be nice to no have west side filled with yellow and green for what could become the biggest regular season game in our history.

Need to be prepared for this distinct possiblility .. the more we win, the more critical this game becomes, and the Bison will be ready to fill up the west side of Hancock if this game matters.

so looks like more than 90%, maybe 95% of home/east side is sold out .. no idea how many are season ticket holders versus regular ticket buyers. And Sports Admin has still locked out the entire student/band section (north half of west side) -very smart, don't change this. But the south half of west side is wide open to public still. I'll take a sell out which is 80% Redbirds and 20% Bison ... just for the atmosphere of it all ... but, less yellow/green would be nice !!

Need to plan ahead and assume this will be huge game with serious playoff and program implications. We need to make this a statement game .. on the field and in the stands.

Sports Admin and Red Alert ... plan ahead !!!!!!!!!!!!

p.s. let the coaches and players worry about taking this season one game at a time, and not looking ahead. Everyone else needs to step up and plan ahead.

People need to buy their tickets now. It would be embarrassing to have 30% of the tickets sold to NDSU.

This is also the State Farm employee discount game, so that should help a little.

Like a good neighbor, I hope Statefarm IS there ... Country Financial is kicking their butt for supporting their local D-I team.

Do State Farm employees buy direct from ticket office? Are there any bigwig State Farm guys on the board? How about State Farm buys a bunch of tix now and then sells to their employees later, instead of making employees buy direct in dribs and drabs through the season?

I like the concept of the State Farm discount game for many reasons but trying to quantify the
true impact. I have no idea but guessing if the State Farm discount added two hundred of additional ticket sales that would be a pretty good program. Anyone know how much that type of discount actually means for additional ticket sales? Interesting that the biggest name opponent is the game for the discount ticket game. Goes back to the concept that when the game is played (early in the season vs later in the season) likely means more at ISU in terms of attendance then who ISU is actually playing.

so looked it up .. rough numbers we have 21,000 undergrad + grad, of which 32% or 7,000 live on campus - mostly FR, some SO. So the other 14k live off campus or commuting ... so 2/3rds will no be gettting kicked out of dorms. Ought to be able to get at least 1,000 students, if not more for a big game like this one.

Feels like we say that every year regarding Senior Day, and every year, even during huge years like '14 and '15, it's always the smallest crowd of the year. Awful weather for those two Senior Days surely didn't help either, but it just seems like everyone bails as soon as they can over break.

Once upon a time in the Aughts we only got Thursday and Friday off for Thanksgiving. In general I think the whole week off makes sense so all course sections meet the same number of times; however, I'd have been totally cool with turning back the clock this year to accommodate our biggest home game of the year.

Family and I will be making the trip back for Thanksgiving week. Gonna do the NDSU game and the Quincy basketball game that week.

What kind of weather will that football game bring? (We haven't been back to the Midwest in November for 15 years.) And do they sell the Nike football jerseys at the Alamo?

Weather can be anything from snow & sleet like the South Dakota game two years ago on roughly the same date - to bright sunshine and mid-60s. Who knows what will happen. However, I would have to believe it will most likely be gray day, with a breeze and temps in 30s-40s.

Ding. Hard pill to swallow but I think this is a much bigger factor than people want to give it credit.

Though the Bears are sold out for every game that concept of when then game is played regarding impact on attendance applies to them as well....meaning early season Bear game tickets tend to be the hardest to find but when the weather turns cool it seems there are many friends with season tickets that are giving them away. With more ISU football games streaming on ESPN than in the past, which affords one the option of watching the game inside, ISU will likely be fighting that battle more than ever and for ISU that actually means tickets sold.

On another topic regarding the NDSU game, fourthandShort brings up the hype surrounding the Senior day game as a reason to attend. IMO, other than family and close friends of the players, I firmly believe that honoring the football seniors is not going to get additional fans to the game. To be honest, though it is a nice event for the players and their families/friends, it distracts from the game atmosphere and often makes the game drawn out.

I hope we're getting to the point where Redbird Nation understands what beating an opponent like NDSU means to the program. If you're gonna be a top FCS program, you have to win this game whenever the Bizen come knockin'. I'm planning on being hoarse on the 19th.

I'm searching for an analogy, but can't come up with one quickly.

Redbird "Nation" understands what it would mean. Problem is, that is sort of like Luxembourg or Monaco, a pretty small nation. Like, maybe 2500 seats worth in November. We need more expansion in our nation!!
