A. I never said he should be fired for what his wife does. That's a cheap shot. What his wife makes has nothing to do with whether Dan should be fired, or Larry Lyons made a horrible mistake, or whether we have cash to buy him out. They did not vacation in Bloomington-Normal. I understand people don't like the job Dan did and that he should be fired. There is no need to bring his wife into the equation. That's low. Lyons presented a contract extension to Dan. It was obviously a contract heavily in his favor and a terrible one for the University. If any of us were offered that kind of security in our jobs, we would have signed it too. Dan has underachieved. We all know it. He knows it. But, a contract is a contract. Now the University has to make a decision. Blame Lyons for the contract; blame Dan for the state of the basketball program; leave his wife out of it.
B. Her job is public, she’s on boards and been in the pantagraph with it listed.
C. I’m guessing the job was part of a package deal.
D. No one should feel sad for Dan. He and his wife have made more money than anyone would need in their life since they’ve come here.
E. Hard to argue Dan has remotely earned what he’s paid.
