Josh Jefferson might also be out. I talked to his mom on Friday night and she was sharing the same information. It was mostly about the intimidation tactics of Muller. If they make a mistake they are out.

Do with it what you will

I'm starting to really see that. Did you see how Phil got yelled at during the Drake game? Like what could he have possibly done -- it's Phil! He comes to play every game, yeah he might done something a little wrong but why the public humiliation? Why not just calmly walk over and tell him. I'm sure Phil would've listened.

I remember last year when Madison hit a big three and a timeout was called. Muller yelled at him. At first I thought it was a positive outburst, but Madison must've done something wrong, as if he murdered somebody ... geez, I felt sorry for the young man. I remember his expression was like wtf???? That's gotta be tough to play under the gun like that, with one mistake and you're out. Playing under that kinda of pressure causes more mistakes to happen imo.

Can’t imagine he is going to graduate.

He just finished his 4th year of college. ( 2 years of juco and 2 years at ISU).

With the amount of classes they take in the summer, I’m sure he’s on track to graduate.
It took one summer at ISU to try to get him academically qualified and that did not work. He then sat a year and I doubt he loaded up on classes and likely took the 12 credit minimum would be my guess. I’d be pleasantly surprised if he graduated at the end of this semester given the fact that he was at a juco and then still had to sit a year.

Yeah, it was really 2.5 years juco (finished at Parkland) and 1.5 years at ISU.

Did he say why he was looking to transfer? Also is that against the rules for other coaches to be in contact with him?
If the dad or Zach is initially reaching out to coaches what is the “legality” (rather an ncaa violation”) issue? Beyond that ISU would then have to approve the other coaches to have contact.

Legality of the NCAA Rules

The comment was also made that the reason we don't have a ton of "all-bench" players is because the bench players are rarely in the game long enough to find a groove and are taken out when mistakes are made. Considering a shooter like a Jefferson, Gassman, or Bruninga last year, yes, they do warm ups and shoot-arounds before the game, but coming into a game and hitting your first three is a challenge. Muller has taken them out before they get the chance to get into a rhythm to get a starter back in or try another bench player.

I find it humorous that the same posters who complain that the players make dumb mistakes are the same ones complaining that Dan has a short leash on players that make dumb mistakes.

Mistakes made in games are a byproduct of low basketball IQ. The development of which should be done by the coach(es) in practices. Games are the test. If players are failing the test, they have not been prepared enough through practices to excel and make good decisions during games.

With that said, Muller has no rhyme or reason to his subbing patterns. He leaves his favorites in after mistakes, subs others immediately after a mistake, then also subs out a player who is "hot". It literally has no flow and no explanation.

Not a good year of coaching at all by him in many areas from chemistry, to IQ to in game preparation/adjustments. Plus the overriding player development standpoint.

Losing these guys would suck. Jefferson and Copeland fell into the "get subbed after each mistake" category. Hein made so many mistakes (on the offensive end) it would be impossible to leave him in for more than a minute each time.

Phil is not immune to making mistakes or needing a fire lite under him. No one is.

Gordon Lightfoot's "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" provided more positivity than the last six days of Redbird basketball performance and rumor mills.

I have no info on Copeland. In St. Louis there was buzz he might be looking into leaving. Just as there was buzz that he was staying.

He’s a good student who was only ineligible because he bombed a single online test. Which caused him to not pass a class by the smallest of margins. And he had a professor that was pretty heartless about the situation.

I wouldn’t put much stock in anything as guys are on spring break right now. These rumors may wind up true, but news will actually trickle out when they get back on campus.

Fischer = Karl Malone
Bruninga = Larry Bird
Boyd = Isaiah Thomas.
Big Rey = Shaq

I am positive for next year.

Please don’t shout at me though.

Copeland made a string of mistakes in the first half of the final game. It took more than one for him to get pulled

Porter used to be accused of scaring players on this board too, if I recall correctly.
Yeah. He got fired and figured it out.

Glad he is getting it for free and still not taking care of the classroom! Excellent "student athlete".

And, different guys are motivated in different ways. Maybe Phil responds better to that approach. Assume Dan knows the individuals and pushes their buttons accordingly. Some kids you can yell at, others may be more sensitive.

After this season, I really don’t care who leaves. I don’t view any rostered player as a cornerstone for future greatness.

I never understood why players that sit a year before coming somewhere would then volunteer to sit a year to go somewhere else. Unless, of course, for the grad transfer rule, but is Copeland there?

Hein I sorta figured would be going to get his MBA anyway. I mean, he is paying his own way as it is. Let's be honest, as a tag along for "King David", he was... fine. But that whole thing was a disaster and exactly why you don't recruit players and their friends.

We are all ignoring Ndiaye for next year. Isn't he our highest rated freshman recruit since Osiris? To suggest that he wont be getting lots of PT next year (if he is on the team), is kind of bananas.
