I have not been impressed with our Birds and then we have our usual injuries. I remember when bball players never got hurt. Now, it is about 25% of the roster that is hurt and it is consistent from year to year. Our play to date is a very small sample size, so I am hoping for a surprise season. I don't see that starting on November 6th.
Belmont 79, ISU 63. I will be watching and sure hope I am wrong.

My son tells me that ISU sent out a student wide email tonight about the game - giving away jerseys to the first 700 - doors open at 5:45.

They have not sent out student wide email for any football game?????

Now that’s a marketing plan! I’d love to get one of those jerseys.

Hahaha its Microsoft Ignite, their biggest conference of the year, and definitely worth it professionally. I'll be watching on my phone in my hotel room where I can swear as much as i want while the game is going on haha.

First games...and do players even know how to play to win any more?

The question of players even knowing how to play to win....I would think a good collection of basketball players would be able to re-group and win when ever they want. The winner always being who wants the victory more. I am hoping that THIS YEAR's Redbirds will have that type of heart. That is asking a lot but I have not seen a good Redbird game played with heart since Kristi Cirone. I did pick the Birds to beat Belmont 68-65. Play to win...and show that you mean it....

Nov5th was a great day for me. Kentucky got slammed (and even in basketball) and the Illini went to OT against Nichols State.

In regards to the Duke/KY game....both halves Duke 59 KY 42....118-84. No change in who was the better team each half. EVEN matching the sad half time scores twice. If ISU was KY in this game.....I would be OVER the season all ready.

Bigger schools compete against smaller schools and the target was on the backs of the Illini team. Illini probably always have issues because they don't drink koolaid in CU....they drink bleah! Orange Crush. As much hype that this team is getting...I will welcome all crappy baskeball news by the Illini.

At least my grammar was decent. lol I think my brain needs a decoder ring to determine how this Redbird team will end up as a Sweet16 team.

I see a Redbird team that displays TEAM more than in the past. Looking at last year's Belmont/ISU stats....their 5 players scored double figures. We had 2.
Last night, Duke played to win...dramatically against a KY team that gave up.
And any competition in regular season needs to be respected or you may get beat in OT.

:lol: I'll see if I can track down the VP and get him to change it back. I'll tell him redbird nation isnt happy about it. As an aside one of the sessions I was in one of the SharePoint guys said a few more names are going to change and then likely change again several times, which should properly confuse the departments I cover at work hahaha
